Traveling to the Dells we Thankfully find Ponderosa. They closed every one in Illinois Years ago. ? The food tasted the same. ? I still Love it? Everyone that works there we're Very Generous an made me wish we still had some in Illinois. But I will make sure that when I go back to the Dells, I Will see them Again!!!
Went there today for the first time since they all pretty much closed. Very very disappointment. Not much of a variety for 16.99 a person. They seat people to close together when there are so many open tables. Meatloaf, meatballs and mac n cheese was cold. No flavor in the dressing, brown gravy n the chicken rice stuff. My sons nachos were soaked in grease. Sad to say we wont ever be back. They give u little school cups of ice cream. Just lost it. They are definitely not how we remember. Again won't be back. Sad to say Pizza Ranch has them beat
Overall, this Ponderosa location was good. The outside of the restaurant is sketchy but the inside was much nicer and clean. The food was good, not exceptional but not terrible either. I think the focus is more on quantity verses quality. The staff was great. Our server was excellent. It’s a little pricey though. We ate at a much nicer restaurant with much better food the night before for a cheaper price.
I see a lot of bad reviews but I think this is a great location. The food is always great and hot and fresh. The staff is always nice. The memories made here last forever. I think when your a ponderosa family you understand that loyalty is important. The food will take you back to when you were a kid eating here. There is not many left and this is the only one I know about! keep it up !
I was absolutely amazed. The steak I ordered was cooked perfectly and I was surprised at how good the buffet was. We don't have a Ponderosa where I live anymore and I definitely am not upset that I came in. It was soooo good.
Do Not Repeat DO NOT go to the Ponderosa near the Wisconsin Dells!!!! We went on May 21,2022 when they first opened at 11am. We went in there thinking we were going to get some fresh hot food - negative. First of all the young lady that was at the register was very rude it’s not my fault that she has a very very thick accent and it was very hard to understand her so every time I said excuse me she got louder and louder but trust me she could yell at me $54.06. In our party there were 2 adults and 2 children 12 and 8 and and infant in a car seat she first told us to sit at a table for four and I was like we are not going to put the baby on the floor she was like sit over there then and stormed off. We proceeded to get our food the mashed potatoes were cold and gritty the salad looked like it had sat out all night it was dry. I have never in my life seen a 8 year old spit pizza and said the taco meat is cold and taste like rubber. I was simply done. It was the worst experience I have ever had. I will never ever go there again and I advise anyone else not to go
Restaurant was clean. The food was hot and fresh. Plenty of choices. Something for everyone. New York strip steak was excellent.
When my husband and I met 21 years ago Ponderosa was our favorite place to go, the chicken wings were my husband's favorite thing and we would go there just so he could have them. There was always a lot of people there and lots of different options of food. We visited a few times throughout the years, since we don't live near one, and it feels like every time that we've visited one (different locations of course) it just wasn't the same. There were hardly any people there and the food didn't taste the same, not many options, and next thing we knew the chicken wings were being removed from the buffet. This last time that we visited Ponderosa will more than likely be the last time that we ever do which I feel bad for saying but it's just not the same anymore and then with them not having the chicken wings we really weren't bringing much back to the table. I think most of us just ended up having tacos. It really bothers me to not leave such a happy review as I love doing these Google reviews but unfortunately we left feeling somewhat disappointed and unsatisfied. The customer service was great and there was definitely plenty of room in the restaurant but it just didn't taste like it used to. Grateful to have memories but wish it was the same that used to be.
The staff here was really nice however, the food was a big let down. It was really over cooked, lacked flavor, had very few selections and was overall bland.
Steak portions were not equal and of all people I take them their for their birthday and the manager was very impolite and only offered a refund. The waitress did better at solving the issue than the manager did...only 1 star for the manager but give the waitress 5 stars she was incredible!
