This was my first time having Mama Mia's. I will not be back. The pizza was ok. The garlic bread took a while to come out as an appetizer. One of the pizzas was made incorrectly so they were brought out at different times. I ate while my friend watched. Then I got to watch as he ate. The general atmosphere in the restaurant was unhappy. I heard several complain about pizza and service. If you like a softer thin crust this place may be worth checking out.
I absolutely love Mama Mia's. My dad and I would always go here to get their pizza. You can tell their pizzas are always home made and they come to you straight from the oven. While you wait they also give you their complimentary garlic bread, which is most of the reason why I go. Sometimes I even order some garlic bread to go its so good!
Very disappointed with our carryout order tonight. Ordered 2 lasagna dinners with 2 house salads and cheese garlic bread. We were there 3 times and our order was still not right. The first time we got the lasagna and garlic bread. My boyfriend went back for the salads and was told they were not included in our order. The girl must not have heard that. (We ordered online so no one would have heard anything we ordered.) The reason we ordered online is because no one ever answers the phone so we can't call in an order. Then the last time my boyfriend went in with the order to show that we did in fact pay for 2 salads he was given 1 salad and an order of garlic bread. We were both so fed up we don't plan on going back.
What is not to love about this classic gem, in the heart of Stallis? Great service, even if they are a little short handed at times. But, our server was super attentive for a Friday night. Then of course we did there amazing pizzas, super thin crust and full of flavor. Then there's there awesome salad. But, always our favorite the heart attack garlic bread. No one makes it better than Mama Mia's. This is our family's favorite restaurant for a Friday night. Kid friendly, great food and service. Can't wait to go back.
I use to go here a lot before I became a Rabbi. They use to have Good pizza. Their garlic bread is Good. Their pizza is not the same though.Update: April 07, 2022I found a new pizza place that is way better then Mama Mia's Pizza. You should try Pepi's Pizza. It is the Original Pepi's Pizza recipe. I highly recommend Pepi's Pizza. Pepi's Pizza is half a block North on 70th & Greenfield Avenue in West Allis. They also deliver for 10 Miles from what they told us. It was the first Time that I have ever been there. However my Mother has been to Pepi's Pizza before. It was her first Time back to Pepi's Pizza since The 1970's. She is so Happy to find out that this is the Original Pepi's Pizza, just in a different location. She said that it was A Trip Down Memory Lane.I liked the Cheese Garlic Bread. I liked the pizza. It is the best pizza that I have had in a long Time. It is way better then Mama Mia's Pizza.Everything there is freshly made to order from scratch, including the dough. They don't prepare their dough ahead of Time or freeze it. They make it fresh for each pizza. They make all of their food fresh for each customer. Pepi's Pizza also has Fish Fries on Fridays and they are bringing back their chicken. I am so Happy that I finally got to try Pepi's Pizza. It well exceeds it's reputation. I will definitely come back to Pepi's Pizza to eat there. The owner even gave me a History lesson about the History of Pepi's Pizza. You are going to Love this place if you have never been there before. Thank You to the owner and the staff there
We went there twice in the last two weeks when their web site said they we open. Dining room was closed both times. I even called in advance tonight and was told it was open. Arrived at 6:15 and the carry out was open but dining room closed. I drove 25 minutes for their garlic bread but I won’t try again. Mama Mia’s closed their Wales location and now I’m moving on also. Garlic bread is good but not worth the aggravation. We ended up at Crawdaddy’s and enjoyed their fried chicken.
Here's the deal -- this place makes quality pizza and PHENOMENAL garlic bread. The place is always busy so workers are extremely busy, be patient, the food is worth it. Plus, I love the dining room, it's old school cozy and kind of communal. You absolutely must get the garlic bread, I grew up on this garlic bread, there's nothing like this anywhere.
Ordered online for dinner pick-up at 7:58pm. I stood at the open pick-up half-door as an all teenager staff walked past talking about wanting to leave to do shots and how much they could drink, and eating in full view of the window. After one girl finished eating nearly 10 min. later, she asked if she could help. I told her about my order. It wasn't waiting, they made me wait while she began cooking and assembling it. The girl doing the cooking was on her phone the whole time talking about how pissed she was over her credit card. They started laughing about a staff member "Andre" and how he should be fired but will never be fired. A guy entered a few minutes later reeking of pot. An adult finally arrived to go back to the kitchen and their demeaner started to change, except for the girl remaining on her phone and using profanity because she messed up the order and had to start over. It went from just me in line to 3 other people behind me as my daughter waiting in my running car for 30 minutes. The bag they handed me was missing part of my order, instead of the adult taking charge to fix it she began talking around me to the person behind me as I waited for the girl to return so I could say to her it was incorrect. I didn't act up. I didn't yell or get loud. I sat quietly and waited and only mentioned my name for the order, and when there were items missing or not right. I was shocked and recorded the first 10 minutes to confirm the type of service. I get good staff is hard to find & will tip up to 40% when I see workers are trying their best and not rude. Even when we came home the salad was incorrect and my daughter couldn't eat the garlic bread because it was inedible. We'll go back to That's Amore or Klasiana's nearby for better food quality and friendly staff.
Honestly its about a 3.5 stars. (Food: 4 stars Service: 2.7 stars-less than average) This review is our own experience here. Went this past week, girlfriend and I loved it years back and wanted to try it again. Place was full which is good to see. Completely understand that they may be short staffed so not a big deal to wait to be seated. We were and our waitress came over and asked what we wanted to drink, without seeing a beverage list. I asked for one and she seemed turned off that I would ask. We ordered a bottle of wine when she came back, as it seemed it was a hassle so I looked on line while she went to get it. We ordered the garlic bread, deep fried zucchini strips and a large pizza. The garlic bread is so good, recommended every time. The Zucchini strips were 1 of 3 things available on the appetizers menu, they didn't have anything else. This is at 6:30 pm. The zucchini strips where breaded and crispy, and came with a marinara sauce for dipping. Not bad at all and would get again if the menu is limited. In this time our baskets, from the 2 appetizers were sitting on the end of the table stacked for the server and she walked by numerous times not taking them. Our wine and waters where almost empty when the pizza arrived. The pizza was cooked well and we liked it but, never did the server come check on us to see how any of the food was. Again we put the empty bottle of wine at the end of the table and we did want another one but she ignored it. We both decided if there was no interest in checking on our food or drinks, we might as well wrap it up and go. Thank you waitress for saving us $25 on another bottle. I'm sure the owners appreciate not having customers spend more. When she came through again we got our check and while we were leaving a tip she stood and waited for us to do so at the table. I feel this is in bad taste as a server. As I described above of the experience, the food was good but the service was not. I do like to leave 20% or more and understand that tips can go to the cooks, bartenders, etc. as well but, I just personally feel the service was sub par from the waitress. I did tip 20% because I do want to continue to go there, so I'll chalk this up to maybe she was having a bad day but it seemed like all the waitress seemed annoyed. We will give it another shot.
The food wasn't ready when they told us it would be. And the garlic bread really isn't that impressive. How much is literally just meat on bread which was completely soggy. Kids did like the pasta though.
