Had a great time here for an early birthday dinner. Enjoyed the casual rustic atmosphere. Food was very good.
Saw the good reviews and decided to try the place out. I'm glad I did. I had the Poor Man's Cod with Cesar salad, twice baked potatoes, and garlic bread. I also ordered a side of onion rings. Washed it down with a Surly Brewing Furious IPA, and a Bloody Mary cocktail.The Cod was served swimming in a delicious platter of melted butter. I broke the cod fillet up into small flakes so the butter soaked into it as much as possible. It was absolutely delicious. The twice baked potatoes were nice and cheesy.The bartender was a good dude. I was tucked into the corner at the bar, and it was pretty busy, but he was on top of the service game and made sure to check with me regularly to see if I needed anything else. The total bill came out to $25. Pretty good deal.Great food, great service, at great price. I'm very happy I came here while on my visit to Wausau. I hope you're next visit is as great as mine was.
Stopped here before the steve-o show on Sunday, had a good experience, food was very delicious, good selection of taps, they serve surly furious and ciderboys. The staff is great and very accommodating, we sat at the bar and watched our server deal with a very rude customer extremely professionally and was quite impressed, definetly will be back to this establishment in the future, thanks again for the great food and service!
Tonight we had their specials, beef chimichanga and beef fajitas (not on the menu). The fajitas were very good for a place that normally doesn't make them. Plenty of steak, peppers and onions. They seasoned them well. I would have preferred them a little more caramelized, but the flavor was still very good. Tuesdays are two for one "on the rocks" margaritas. They make them very good too. We also had their famous Italian fries with cheese and extra sauce. That is a must have at the Wausau Mine Company.
We visited on prom night, so the restaurant was super busy. However, the staff were very attentive, helpful, and quick. I had cheese curds (10/10), potato fries (super crispy), Kansas BBQ Pork Sandwich w/ Coleslaw (delicious). I like that they provided plenty of sauce for everything. The Reuben and the Philly Cheese steak were ordered by others in the party, and said were good. Prime Rib sandwich was a bit tough and the au joux was a bit salty though. The decor was unique, and the dimmer lighting was nice for a more casual dinner.
We always love this place when in town. You get plenty of tasty food at a great price. They know how to put cheese on a pizza like it should be. Get the Italian Fries with dipping sauce as an appetizer, So good! The lasagna, pizza and burger were great. We happen to hit the 2 for one margaritas as well. What a wonderful night.
Great novelty/themed setting. Lots of choices on the menu. They are known for their Pizza. I had their chicken pot pie, and it was superb. It is served in a ceramic skillet with only an upper flaky crust, comfort food at its best.
It was cool! If you haven't been here, make it a must on your list. The staff was super, the food was excellent, and the scenery was exactly as the name states.... It's a mine! Inside and out. For adults and children as well. Great prices for deliciousness!!! The food melts in your mouth. I even got a very cool t-shirt at the souvenir shop. 5 stars ➕ in my book.
