Delicious stop during our recent vacation in Wausau Area. Great patio area to dine & enjoy a beautiful evening.
We went to red eye with a large group and they told us they couldn’t push two tables together. With Covid and maybe just the way they have their servers scheduled I completely understand why they don’t do this. We had 12 people and we came at lunch time and were able to be seated right away just at two separate tables right next to each other. This however is not why I’m writing this review. In the past, we’ve had tremendous food and drinks in the summer. Their fall and winter menu however, have not provided us the same experience. Due to them sourcing their food locally (which I can respect) the quality and variety isn’t as good in the winter months as the summer, especially the beer selection. While we’ve had some bad experiences as of late, what really made me realize this place isn’t for us anymore happened the same day our party of 12 was there. A man and his wife, who just had knee surgery, asked for an additional chair so she could rest her leg on it and the staff refused to accommodate her. An extra chair, at noon on a Thursday. They couldn’t accommodate her so they left. We ended up leaving as well as we just wanted to all sit together for the celebration we were having. We ended up going to Tine and Cellar for great foot and some of the best service I’ve ever had. Probably not going back to Red Eye ever again.
This place is a must on your list of places to eat. My family and I all loved our meals. The spinach Artichoke dip with warm flatbread was amazing. Our waitress Jenny was awesome! Super nice and very attentive to make sure we had everything that we needed. The pizzas were amazing. I highly recommend this place to anyone. Yes the prices are higher but you are paying for the excellent quality of the food! We will definitely be coming back.
Fun atmosphere. Tends to be a little loud at times. Excellent brew-pub beer selection but also a full bar. Menu has a nice variety including several vegetarian options. Staff friendly and available. Easily accessible from road or sidewalk. We have visited several times at all different times of the day/evening, food has always been fresh and hot.
Delicious food with quick service! Two of us are vegan and got the beet risotto (without parmesan) and a mushroom pizza with no cheese. Our vegtmetarian daughter got the Mac & Cheese pizza. The food was fantastic!!
My absolute favorite restaurant and a must stop when in Wausau. Local organic foods, unique and creative menu, beautiful presentation, delicious from the first smell as you walk in the door to the last bite of dessert. If you’re a beer lover, that’s just the icing on the cake. Last time I had the Norwegian Salmon…just wow!
What a delightful place to spend an evening. The food is absolutely delicious. It also reminds me more of a big city pub. Bicycles hang from the ceiling, the lighting is just perfect, And the intimacy is what you would expect in a good restaurant. The service was excellent and the food quality was even better. I had the lobster pot pie and it was unusual and and excellent. I would recommend it to anyone who has a special event. It was my birthday and I happened to mention it to the server. She told me that I had a choice of two desserts because it was my birthday. Be sure you tell your server if you want to receive this special dessert. All in all this was an absolutely wonderful experience in every way. It is a little more pricey so you're probably not going to go there every week. However if you want something very special this is the place to go.
Red Eye is the best that Wausau has to offer (and is great all around,) as a brew pub! Fantastic burgers, to chefs specials, they make it delicious! Plus, most of their ingredients are locally sourced. They make some of the best beer in Wisconsin, too! (The pic is of their Prickly Pear IPA, YUM YUMM!)
We were passing through town and we were looking for a local place to eat at. This brew pub has an excellent selection. I didn't try any because I had another four hours of driving, but it appears to be a popular place. They also have large cans to go and I thought I saw a sign for growlers as well. I had their $14 macaroni & cheese (made with four cheeses), Nueske's bacon and bread crumbs. It was decadent. A little bit on the the salty side. My companion had the $15 wood-fired Forager Pizza with fennel sausage, mozzarella and pesto. The sausage was excellent, but I though the sauce could have been more flavorful. It was good. I'm just picking nits. If I'm in town, I'll definitely come back.
We went in with a decently large group, and had to split to two tables. I will say I wasn't entirely impressed with the welcome we got, however once we were seated and our waiter came life was good. The food was great, it all had a flair to it that was amazing. Can't wait to go back
