Had dinner for two. Both ordered the taco salad. It was excellent. The best part was that our meals were brought out only five minutes after we placed our order!
My wife and I love Mexican food and have tried different places all over the US. El Mezcal had the best food we have ever had. The flavors were beyond belief.
Great Mexican food, nice atmosphere, 2 for one margaritas on specific days, margaritas are strong enough and flavorful. Free homemade chips and salsa, bottomless! I ordered three tacos, homemade shells and very tasty, includes beans and rice for $10.99. My son got the fajitas taco salad, which is served in a fried tortilla shaped into large taco shell, flavorful and delicious, with beef and fajita veggies. He loves the Mexican soda, pineapple flavor was enjoyed! Prices are great, food is great, ambiance is great and our waitress was very nice and attentive. We really enjoy El Mezcal!
I come here a lot and it used to be sooo much better recently every time I come in which is like once every couple weeks the service has been terrible. There is times where it will be almost completely dead and the server forgets about us they don’t refill drinks, I had a chocolate milk and drank almost right away and one of the servers didn’t offer me another drink like a water so I asked for a water and she said yes and forgot about it and another time we waited roughly 15 minutes ( I had a timer going) to even get our drink ordered like they sat us down and nobody came to the table even though servers kept walking by and also The food also has been tasting a bit bland.

Just a terrific meal as always. Friendly and attentive staff. Delicious food, (HIGHLY recommend the Jimidor) and festive decor. Bet meal out I have had in many months.
Food was super fast and very tasty. Only downside was neither I nor my BF cared for the red sauce that they put on their enchiladas & tamales but otherwise everything tasted great. And I highly recommend their deep fried cheesecake super yummy.
We were passing through Wausau on our way to Door County and needed to stop for lunch. From the outside, El Mezcal looks like any other Mexican-for-gringos restaurant. But it was just off the highway, making it very convenient, so we stopped —and prepared ourselves for another round of what I call "Mexican hot dish". Were we pleasantly surprised. The service was fast and courteous. The dining area is tastefully decorated, with none of the garish "Mexican" doodads found in so many Mexican diners. The owners are from the state of Jalisco, one of our favorite places in Mexico, and home to one of the many great Mexican cuisines. Fortunately for everyone who eats at El Mezcal, the chef has faithfully captured the authentic taste of Jalisco's wonderful cuisine. The food was absolutely delicious. The salsa took us back to our time in Puerto Vallarta, and the chips were warm and fresh. The Camarones Diabla was fabulous. Typical of many authentic Mexican dishes— regardless of the regional differences— this spicy dish was layered with flavors and with just enough "heat" to make it sparkle on the palate. I only wish that more Mexican restaurateurs would honor the best of their country's heritage by bringing to the United States the delicious variety of unique and flavorful food they are fortunate to enjoy. The service was timely, and prices are decent. Now the food, the food was absolutely phenomenal.This was the best quesadilla I have had I'm ages!In fact my friend from North Carolina was visiting this weekend and joked with me about how funny it was that he came all the way to central Wisconsin and found the best Mexican food he has ever had!Well done El Mez!!!
