Really bums me out to have to make a review like this, considering that this Chinese food restaurant was my favorite since I was a kid, but nothing about it is the same anymore… :( Even one of the best things on the menu for me (the sesame chicken) is completely different. Instead of the delicious, dark brown sesame sauce that used to be on there has been replaced with some light brown, practically flavorless sauce that didn’t even cover a majority of the chicken. Hopefully the new owners take some notes from some of the reviews on here & make some changes soon, because I don’t see Kim’s Garden lasting for much longer if they don’t.
We had a group of six that was there when they opened at noon on Sunday. We all ordered nice entrees and my wife and I ordered the dinner for two which includes a fried platter including two egg rolls 2 wontons 2 crab rangoons and maybe something else? The other items were a beef dish a pork fried rice and a chicken dish. We all had lots of food and lots of leftovers except my brother who ate his hot noodles. He was sweating. Very nice place.
Nice place, great food. My wife and I got the two person dinner which includes three entrees and a sampler of fried stuff including two egg rolls, 34$ with plenty of leftovers
The food was cheap and the service was prompt but the shrimp was not deveined (the veins can contain fecal matter from the shrimp so this is kinda gross that the veins were still in there) and the dumplings had raw batter on the inside. Maybe they were just having an off day but overall, not a place I would go again.
The vegetables were mushy, not fresh. Meat was dry...both my mother and I wound up sick. Never again. I used to like this place. Oh..and let's not forget the rat/mouse traps by the inside of the building door. Which I didn't notice until we were leaving.
The lady was very sweet. She was working the whole restaurant by herself. Including cooking. I think it was just too much for her . Food came out rather bland . But her demeanor and friendliness will bring us back after she is re staffed to give it another try
Breaks my heart to give such a poor rating to what used to be one of the best Chinese restaurants in Waukesha. The quality has disintegrated under the new ownership. The chicken did not taste fresh. The soup was awful. The only decent thing was the wontons. It seems most recent reviewers have had similar remarks. Unfortunately, this will be our last time dining there.
The food was made with love. I have been going here for over a year and love the service and quality of food.
Pretty flavorless, took a lot of herbs and sauces at home to make this palatable. Very blah. The beef had a lot of oil sitting on it.
Tried Kim's takeout since or usual place is closed on Mondays. Orange beef, fried rice, and fried noodles with beef. Beef was oily, shriveled, low quality, and tasteless. The rice was not fresh, and neither were the noodles. We tried soy sauce, hoisin sauce, pepper, and nothing could turn it around. Utterly bland from the beginning and lackluster. I'm always one to give an honest try, and seldom have a bad review worth posting but they earned this one hands down. Five bites in... Done...
