If you are looking for a high-quality meal at a moderate price, you have got to stop in! Our server was polite and attentive, this is just as important a the food. To start is off, we tried their take on the cauliflower tempura. Fantastic, we ate every bite! The steak was cooked to perfection and the veggies were a great balance of cooked yet retaining the natural "snap". We also had the chef's special, a braised short rib with a mushroom risotto, it was so tender and delicious. The drink menu was reasonably priced and tasty. At the end, we were left wanting more but we were too full to have another bite. This means we will just have to go back!
Visited Racine for a friends wedding in July 2022. Never been to this city before but loved how walkable everything was. We chose Butcher & Barrel based on the menu options. We had a reservation. Staff was welcoming and we sat down immediately. The drink I chose was unavailable due to limited ingredients but I got another one which was pretty good (canât find the drink menu online otherwise Iâd insert the name). My hubby got the Old Fashion and he enjoyed it. We ordered the brussel sprouts as the starter - excellent. Then it took a while before our waiter came back to get our orders. My hubby got the herbed chicken and I got the seared scallops. The food took a long time. We should have had a second drink but the waiter took a while to come around. Once the food came, I was told that my side item (sweet potatoes) was not available so they gave me the regular mash which was fine. The scallops were perfectly cooked inside. The mash was pretty salty. The herbed chicken was very good as well but again the purée was salty. We did get the crustless cheesecake which was pretty small and was basically a small bowl of ricotta and cinnamon. I liked it but hubby said it wasnât what he expected. Prices were reasonable. Only negative was the long waits from the server. Server was really nice and great when they came to us but food coming out was slow. I would still highly recommend this place for anyone visiting. Great GF options and food is really good. Nice interior and good ambience.

Our server, Emma, was a gem. After perusing their menu on line, I had my mind set on the pan seared scallops and they tasted just as I had dreamed they would. They were cooked to perfection and served over a Curry Sweet Potato Puree, Snow Peas, Toasted Cashew and Cilantro sauce. I was very happy to say the least. My guest had the Bacon cavatappi and smoked Gouda "mac and cheese." She said it was divine and enjoyed it very much. It was my guest's birthday and we let Emma know. When she told us what was on the dessert menu we opted for the flour-less chocolate cake with fresh creme Anglais. I have had flour-less chocolate cake before and this was the best I ever tasted. And, they comped us the cake, a $9.00 value, as a celebration on my friend's birthday. The menu items were inventive and there was a good selection without it being overwhelming. We were not rushed in order to turn over the table. So a wonderful time was had by all. We agreed we would go there again.
I was truly disappointed with my visit to this establishment. I made reservations for a regular table and was sat at the high tops. The bar tender was the waitress and the wait time was extremely long. We waited a good 15 mins before our drink order was taken. We quickly ordered our food with the drinks just so we wouldnât have to wait again. Scallops and chicken were ordered and we waited 40 mins for the food. The establishment itself was beautiful and has potential but the wait time for what was three tables hat needed service was just horrible.
The staff was friendly and accommodating towards my food allergies. The food was fantastic.
