Looks sketchy from the road, but friendly atmosphere inside. They try hard to be rude, but nothing but big teddy bears!Except for Chad. He needs to make better life decisions!
I ordered food at midnight for pick up in an unknown city and PETE'S GARAGE did not disappoint. My food was ready when I arrived and gso fresh it was too hot to eat when I got back to my room. I've ate many burgers and hands down this was the best burger I've had in my life! I never write reviews and I had share this experience. I don't eat pickles and everything was so good, I ate one just because and it was tasty. I'm mad I didn't order a cocktail for a full review.
Every time I watch Guy Fieri or some other celeb showing people the "secret spots' locals go to, I laugh the whole time they're in Wisconsin. I know the best place for Friday fish fry, steaks, sushi and authentic Mexican in Wisconsin. As for the best burger in Wisconsin? Idk about that, but Pete's Gas Cap w Cheese is the best burger I've had in my 41 yrs, anywhere. And it's not even close. I don't put ketchup on their burgers. Don't want to ruin the flavor, and they're too juicy to choke on. Add a Cheers atmosphere (They've remembered me since the first time I stopped in a few years ago) and it's one of those places you're glad stays small.
We were in town for a wedding. Knowing we wanted the true Wisconsin bar experience, I did my research. Pete’s Garage Bar was hands down the best decision made for Cheese Curds. They are listed on the menu as a “shit ton” and they did not lie! I swear, there were 60+! The fried pickles were fabulous and HOT! I strongly suggest you want at least 5 minutes before trying one~the hot grease will get ya! We really enjoyed the atmosphere and reading the many sarcastic signs on the walls and license plates on the ceiling! The three gentlemen that were working at the time were handling a very crowed bar with the up most efficiently! Bottom line, if you’re looking for a hometown, great food, no thrills, reasonable priced food and drinks along with the BEST cheese curds in OshKosh, PETE’S Is your place!
I just visited Pete's for the 1st time tonight. Food was excellent. Service was great....bartenders/cooks are very efficient despite all the signs to the contrary. I will be going back on Monday to eat and watch Final Four championship game. Having recently moved to this area, Pete's will be my go to place to eat, drink and hang out. I'm happy I found a place that feels comfortable and chill. I highly recommend going there.
I was visiting from another state and stopped in here with family who lives in the area. The food was good and prices reasonable, I like they way they run the place: get your own stuff and clean up after yourself. There are no waitresses and they expect you to clear your own table.The prime rib sandwich was recommended to me and it was very good, a large amount of food.If I lived in Oshkosh I'd be a regular customer. I'll be sure to stop back the next time I am in town.
We went here ordered our food and the bartender very rude. He was more interested in doing his shots at the other end of the bar. So we gave it another try with some friends thinking it might have changed but the same bartender rude . We won't be returning
Great burgers, with a ton of appetizer options. They don’t really cook it to your preference but it still tastes amazing. They are always packed when I go in and my food is always done in a timely manner.
Don’t know how this place makes it. PHIL (the cook) was so rude and disrespectful to not only me but my girlfriend as well. I would be completely embarrassed to take anyone here ever again. I have traveled all over the United States and ate at hundreds of places and this is by far the worst experience I’ve ever had. Customer service will ruin any business, being sarcastic is one thing but being completely rude is another. I will advise my friends family and co workers to never step foot in this place. Unsure of what to think? Read the reviews and the responses from the owner, how anyone can be so unprofessional and rude is beyond me.
Great dive bar. Cheap drinks and food. Portions were HUGE so bring your appetite! Service was decent considering how busy it was. Definitely a repeat visit when in town.
