The atmosphere was outstanding, we ate outside on the patio and it was just beautiful. The Venue was perfect and so was the food!!! My wife said her mixed drinks were delicious and the tap beer was also great. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation for the Whitehouse in Bayview. You won’t regret it 😋.
Wanted to like this place per all the reviews. Two of us got the steak with truffles. Def wasn’t expecting the truffles so we both were super excited. Steaks ordered medium rare, but it was just tough and stringy, just remember the outside being hard and not a juicy filet. Nothing memorable about the dishes and I’ll have to say for $50-80 a main course dish, I expected a higher caliber of quality and execution of the food. Service was good, our server was pleasant, attentive and timely.
Wow!!! What amazing food!! Every last bite was delicious. It was one of those meals where you start eating slower halfway through because you don’t want the food to end! We had mushroom soup, oysters Rockefeller, swordfish, Elk and a few desserts. Every last bite was heavenly. The service was outstanding too. A small staff was serving a large party upstairs and several tables in the dining room. If they were too busy or stressed, you’d never know it. Everyone was knowledgeable, friendly and took time with every guest. The White House is not to be missed! Highly, highly recommend!
Our first visit to the The White House in Bay View was an all around delight! Starting with an early call Saturday to book a reservation, with the proprietor Allison taking the call and promising and enjoyable time that evening. And so it was! The cocktails and mocktails were exquisite, and the food of the highest quality and preparation to be found this side of the Atlantic. The menu is seasonal and thereby limited, but the trade off of fewer options for better taste is worth it! There is so much more to describe from our visit, but I will leave it here: The chef is a master, Allison is a force of nature, and the clientele reflects the diversity that is Bay View!
Overall the White House was overpriced given the quality and service we experienced.We went in for a Friday night dinner. The escargot was the best part of the meal. The beet salad was below par with very little flavor and a chunk of goat cheese hidden underneath a lot of beets - I love beet salads but it lacked flavor and was hard to eat and meld what flavors it did have. The main courses seemed over priced for what you got. The food was still good but had small execution issues given the price -ie fig sauce on the duck was watery and not enough thickness to stick to the meat. Or broccolini was over-salted.Lastly the service crew was slightly over-attentive and a bit awkward. When asking where the bathroom was, the server not only told us where it was but that if we went too far we would go outside and have to pee on the dumpster. Weird. They paced the meals off so getting food before barely starting the previous one - just not the level of service you expect when you are paying $40-$80 for a main course.Again, food good but overall experience is not worth the price. Love the decor.
The atmosphere was warm and intimate, perfect for a valentine dinner. The appetizers were very well done; the escargot was sublime and the elk tenderloin in a berry compote was the star of the night!
Recently held our team dinner here and it was such a great experience! Accommodated all event requests, and the food and staff/service was fantastic. They created a very elegant and special holiday dinner menu for our group too. Everyone in the party really enjoyed the food and atmosphere, high praises from all! A must add to your dining list!
Our dinner experience was phenomenal all the way around. The food was exquisite, some of the best fish I’ve ever had! Food presentation was extremely pleasing. The place itself has character and the owner clearly embraces this in every detail, down to receiving our bill in a Shakespearean novela. The service was top notch and personal, we were treated like family and royalty at the same time. Can’t wait to go back!
They got everything right except the most important part. The food. Over-priced under seasoned and slightly above average. What a shame.
OUTSTANDING!!! I could dine here every night of the week. The cuisine is the best in Milwaukee and the owner, staff and ambience are equally as wonderful.
