Great place to eat and have a drink. The atmosphere is nice along with the friendly staff there to serve you. Clean environment for dine in experience.
Vast selection on fish fry done well. Friendly neighborhood bar; come early, it gets crowded.
My wife and I went on Saturday for lunch, maybe that was the mistake. They had a limited fish minue. We chose the salmon, but it was over cooked. Dry even though we were the only 2 in the place. I am not impressed.
Kams usually makes it into our St. Paddy plans one way or another. They usually have music - this year was no exception. There are always great bartenders and a good selection of food if you are hungry. I enjoy the 2 bar areas..they generally have different vibes. I have been coming here sporadically over the last decade... they usually show packer games as well and that is always a fun time.
Food ok thier clam chowder seriously the best my wife and I had cod was 4 small pieces a little on the pricey. And unfortunately lobster tail was uncooked but don't like returning food?!$ would go back for the chowder just keeping it real.
Honestly I can’t comprehend how this place has so many good reviews. I was extremely disappointed with the entire experience. As soon as we walked in I regretted choosing this place for a Friday fish fry due to its numerous fish varieties. The carpet looks as if it hasn’t been replaced or cleaned in 20+ years, it stunk of fryer grease, and it felt dingy and dirty. It was very busy due to it being a Friday night fish fry night, but it did take about 15 minutes for our waitress to take our drink order. No one ever brought us water, and the drinks were ok at best. The appetizers were the only decent part of the meal, but it’s hard to mess that up. (The only star is for the appetizers and I can’t give less than 1 star.) We ordered several kinds of fish and coconut shrimp and in one of them were even close to satisfying. Everything had an odd, unappetizing, yet bland flavor. Not to mention everything was ridiculously overpriced for underwhelming fish and a ripped-in-half slice of bread (not even rye bread as the menu stated). Additionally, half the side options were sold out and there were laughably 2 or 3 whole bites of coleslaw per serving. Overall we wished we hadn’t even sat down here, and will never return for this overpriced mediocre food. Do not waste your time or money here. You’re far better off dining literally anywhere else. In this case “more” doesn’t mean better at all.
I was pleasantly pleased with the variety of fish available and the freshness of it. It was fried to perfection no problems whatsoever the drinks were absolutely delicious I love my old fashions and boy they make a mean one it was great I will definitely be back again.
We were impressed w the broad selection of fish and variation of appetizers. This is not your typical Friday fish fry. It's so much more.Found the food portioned generously and DeliciousTerrific waitstaff. We ordered and our food arrived fast. The owner was incredibly engaging and super friendly.Ask him to do a magic trick.I highly recommend for your next fish fry .
Never been to The Thistle & Shamrock. The atmosphere is the usual bar atmosphere but the fish fry was excellent. Our server was friendly and I think she welcomed our sense of humor. We will be back.
