Another place we've discovered while looking for a place to get dinner in MKE. Located on Michigan street - slightly off the "beaten path" - fairly central, with a few tables outside and a good seating capacity inside - it is not a very big place, so prepare for a little waiting - especially at certain hours. It is what I would call a typical American eatery, with the menu concentrated on the favorite type of dishes you will find in the American diners .. From the menu - I've picked the half rack ribs , tasty , nicely cooked, the meat was falling of the bones, the sauce was perfectly balanced between sweet and sour, a nice dish - the carrots , well not bad, but I would not say those were a highlight , still together with the ribs went very well. In terms of drinks - the menu was loaded with a lot of options , so you just need to pick your "poison" of choice. Service - was fairly decent , the place was packed , so it was normal that it took a while. The price to quality ratio is very good. Overall a very good place, with a very good menu , and very good food quality... if you are traveling to MKE you shall try it.
The food was delicious, atmosphere brilliant and the location fine - apart from the fact that the waiter seemed to be intoxicated and insisted me to write down the PIN-code of my credit card despite I asked him to bring me the chipcard reader instead. Everyone is well aware that one should NEVER ask for the PIN-code of a credit card. I have encountered same kind of behavior only while traveling in Moscow. For apparent reasons, I have to give only a single star.
It's a staple in the down town area. I've been here many times over the last decade. We went on a Thursday night and got there just before 700p. We arrived and it was busy as usual. We put our name in for a table and ended up getting 2 seats at the bar. We stayed for a couple beers and ate dinner. We got 4 shrimp to start. Cowboy burger and Russian sandwich pictured.
Came here for a late lunch on a Saturday. We knew this place would be good when we saw it was packed at 3pm! We started with the mozzarella sticks. For our meal, I had the Sriracha Chicken and my partner had the sliders. Everything was delicious and the food came out quick! We thought this was a great place to do lunch.
Great service. Fun vibe. Outstanding playlist. Worth the hour wait. Server was extremely helpful!! Amazing warm beet salad and brussel sprouts. Hands down the BEST FRENCH FRIES that I have had in forever! Will definitely be back!
I'm torn about leaving a stellar review, only because this place is such a great place and institution to Milwaukee that I'd hate to ruin it! But it IS that good. It's a hidden gem that most people don't give a second thought to when driving by. While not a large place, it's always packed with locals who know good food, good bartenders, and good service. I don't think there's an item on the menu that isn't great. My personal favorite is the "B.E.L.T." (BLT w/a fried egg!). And you can't beat the 3 for 5 deal when you want to quench your thirst. Honestly, just go. You won't regret it. Weird if caution, if you plan on going when something's happening downtown, plan ahead and get there early. There will be a wait!
great food great service and great staff
Awesome food. Awesome service. With the wait! The switch up with tuna on the Cajun chicken sandwich is amazing.
Amazing food, atmosphere and service. This was the best food I have had in a long time and the waitress was very nice and quick
Had a party seated at a table and was constantly ordering drinks and randomly putting in food orders. Was handed a check out of nowhere and essentially told that we needed to go to allow them to seat others. When confronted they said, "it's a small bar so..."I guess it would be nice if they would talk with us vs kick us out by bringing a bill. Communicate... We were willing to order more food.Great beer and food though.
