Very nice evening with out of town guest in for business. Reservation was easy, table was ready when we arrived, service was a bit slow and had to remind our server for a few items. Food presentation, quality, taste, and temperature were all outstanding. Closing out/a bill was quick and easy.
My special request of a romantic table was not honored. We were at by a 10 top, so it was nosier than we would've liked. Food was sub-par. Calamari was very chewy, we did not even eat half of it. My steak was way over cooked. My wife's pasta had very little sauce. We way over paid for the whole experience. I will not be recommending this restraint to any family it friends.
The food here is absolutely delicious. From the salad to the lamb chops to the dessert. The biggest reason we didnât give it 5 stars is because our waiter was awful! It took him 10 minutes to even come to our table after we sat down. And we walked past us 8 times! Then even after that it didnât get any better. He had to have other people bring out our food cause he was so oblivious and paying way to much attention to one of the hostesses!
Disappointing, compared to pre-pandemic experiences. Had to ask for white wine list because it wasnât with the wine menu. Server didnât know which table to bring food, but our waiter was ok. Most of all, our main courses were marginal, not worth their $$$$. Three scallops on some cream with 1/4 cup of greens for $35?? Lots of pretty good pasta, though. On the other hand, the bar is fantastic! Try their sazerac!
Annual meeting
My boyfriend and I went here for our anniversary, the ambiance was nice, moderately loud. I was debating between two dishes and asked the waitress for her recommendation. She said the linguini was better for the pasta if you want something creamy. Our food came, I received the seafood with plain linguini, no sauce, nothing. I asked out waitress for more sauce, and she checked, but the chef didn't offer anymore. I expected more than bland pasta for a $35 bowl of pasta. I was surprised the waitress didn't offer anything else or anything, I understand it wasn't her fault. Our server was great, but the food was poor. I would probably not go back.
For the price point, I expected the service to be a little more upscale. While the wait-staff was pleasant, they didnât have the attention to detail I was expecting: The runners wandered around unsure of where to deliver plates; dirty plates themselves were left on the table for too long before being cleared for the next course; my soup was served without a spoon and it took about 5 min to flag down our waiter for one; after dinner drinks and desserts were not offered after we had finished our entrees, the waiter just if we were ready for the check. Had the restaurant been crowded, I would have been more apt to let these things slide, but it was only at about 50% capacity with many open tables. The space itself is gorgeous, definitely would be a fun place to come get after dinner drinks, but I wouldnât recommend dining here if a friend asked.
A table of 3 50+ year old ladies and our server called us guys several times even after being corrected. I'll go to fast food for that greeting. Please bring back items from old menu. Gluten free on your current menu is extremely limiting. I was looking forward to the shrimp and avocado salad!! Steak was ordered medium rare and came out medium well. Potatoes were so salty they were inedible. Server said, "oh sorry about that." Quite an expensive evening out with the "guys" to walk away hungry.
First time at Stella Van Buren and will definitely recommend.
Awesome!!!
