Stopped in for lunch with three others. Three of us got the prime rib sandwich which was the special. And I got the fried cod sandwich and a pretzel loaf to split. Everything came out hot and delicious and our server was fun too. She even turned on the train that runs on a track up near the ceiling for us. There was not a bit of the sandwiches left on our plates when we were done, and only a few fries because we were so stuffed! We will definitely come back to try more of the drinks and specials.
On the Clock Bar & Grill is a nice place for a meal and a beverage. The menu is diverse with many of the new favorites. The beer Tap is modest with most of the usuals. The place represents an old German style beer hall with two dining rooms I could see, one private. Many modern styling were added to hide flaws or old sins.In this day of supply and labor shortages, our service was good and quick. My Ruben was good, but not stellar. It had the feel of being pre-made then heated on a pan without flipping it part the way through... it was a little soggy on the bottom. The Tuna was outstanding! The fries are excellent!Definitely good for a visit.
On the Clock Bar & Grill's Friday Fish Fry offers a few home runs, a few hits, and couple of strike outs:Fantastic - Fried ShrimpVery Good - Cod Fried & Baked, Fried Walleye, ColeslawGood - FriesBad - Fried Perch (Very Thin Dry Fish and Over salted)Very Bad - Potato Pancakes (Over salted to the point of being inedible which is a shame given the flavor is good until you're smashed in the mouth with a salt bat)Average Value and Decent Overall Service. 3.5 (5.0)
I googled places in the area for food, due to me having to stay over for work and one I’m so glad I found this place! For one the food was amazing, I got the cheeseburger with fries. Secondly when I walked in the door, the atmosphere, the vibe was everything!! It felt as if I been there before, everyone there was welcoming and beyond nice. Someone there paid for me a shot, I believe it was the owner, I got invented to come back next Saturday to celebrate a wedding! Omg the love I felt for those 7 minutes was amazing and I will definitely be back again and again❤️
I had not been here in a really long time. Previously, I had visited when it was Roberts. So yes it has gone through a name change and COVID. I know times are challenging but proper hospitality can still be offered.I visited Saturday 5/7/22, approximately at 630pm. Upon entering we were greeted by a "waitress wanted" sign. We hung there for a few minutes, thinking it was a hostess stand. Eventually we walked further into the dinning room, there was a door dash pickup table. We figured maybe that was the hostess stand. There were 2 workers behind the bar and neither said hello at any time. After waiting a few more minutes a guess at a high top table in the bar area said we can just sit anywhere. We grabbed a table and began our wait. After 20 minutes had past without a greeting, I turn to my wife and said I think I'm ready to go if someone doesn't say hi shortly and unfortunately we were greeted within 2 minutes of that comment.Had we not been greeted I would have been spared the worst dining experience of my life. We had 3 drinks 2 appetizers and 2 entrees. It took two and a half hours to serve us all of our items. We were there so long by the time our entrees came out we asked for a to-go box. Otherwise we would have been there another half hour to eat our meal.Do not go unless they get adequate staff that can handle being short-handed or enough bodies to cover up the poor customer experience. The only highlight of the whole experience was the LoDuca wine that was available.
We first went here a few weeks ago and I was so excited about discovering their gluten free menu options as my husband I both have to eat gluten free. I was less than impressed with the service as, after being told to seat ourselves, no one helped us and after 10-15 minutes I flagged someone down to ask for menus. The process of ordering and receiving our food was slow but the food was good and so I passed it off as a one-time fluke. Tonight we decided to go back…however, after being seated it took 10 minutes to get menus, another 10 minutes to get drinks….and then no one ever came back to take our order. People who had come in after us had been eating for at least 5 minutes when we finally got up to leave. I approached the bar to tell the bartender (owner?) that I wanted to pay for our drinks, as we were leaving because we’d been waiting well over a half hour and no one had even taken our order yet. He wouldn’t make eye contact with me and waved me off mumbling something about the drinks were on the house. There was no apology for poor service, no offer to take our order and get it up from the kitchen quickly - nothing. Just waved me off. We will not be back, which sucks for them because if we had been impressed with all the various gluten free menu items we likely would have turned into weekly / regular customers
My experience here was simply incredible! I had ordered a bowl of macaroni and a old fashioned and the owner came out and made the alcohol and cheese by hand! He pulled this shutter up from the floor where he started brewing the brandy by hand. Then he opened a door just off to the left of the bar and I saw a portal to another dimension where he had a farm with fresh wheat! I watched as he cut said wheat and started making the flour by hand. I sat in awe as he made the beautiful lengths of uncooked pasta, of which he boiled on a stone campfire conveniently placed in the middle of the bar. Suddenly, a group of Native American tribes man came out and started chanting ritualistically. It was amazing! After a few minutes of this, the owner got up and went over to the freshly brewed brandy and served me my old fashioned. It was a bit weird since the brandy wasn’t aged but I really liked it! After the owner finished my drink he turned back around to assist the Native Americans with straining my pasta. It was so fresh and steamy. I was really impressed. The owner then finished the dish with this creamy sauce from his kitchen that tasted like it was made by angels. And to top it off, he sprinkled potato chips on my macaroni, finishing a meal made for god himself. 10/10, if I could give it a higher rating I would. Best meal and old fashioned of my life.
Although the wings were good. They were a bit pricey. Was there with my 15 month old son and the staff and pretty sure the owner were really nice when my son started to become restless. The wait was also pretty long considering there were only 10 people there on a early sat afternoon.
Great staff fun music and yummy food. Always an amazingly awesometastic time there.
Place was really cool and close to my hotel. Was a little divey which was a good change of pace from the regular chain restaurants. I would definitely recommend this place and will hit it up again when I'm passing through Milwaukee.
