I've been going to Jake's Deli on north for over 55 years. Unfortunately they're gone downhill some years ago after being bought out by a restaurant group I believe. 1. They now use inferior rye bread. It's too soft with little flavor. Maybe Miller's Rye bread is no longer in business. It was the best.2. For a $13 corned beef sandwich I was served mostly fat. It was tender but not much was on the sandwich.3. Took forever to get my order even so it was not busy. Sorry to say the workers are very slow and don't seem to care too much about serving.Unfortunately I won't be going back.
I have lived in four states since leaving Milwaukee in 1986 but every time I visit, I have to make my way to Jake's. It's the best corn beef I've ever eaten anywhere, including NY. Unlike most places Jakes corn beef is moist, tender and full of flavor. I wish I could order it online and have it shipped to me.
One of the best Corned Beef and Pastrami sandwiches I've ever had. The meat was great. The deli mustard was good. The only bad part to it all was the Rye bread was too soft (like white bread) to hold up for the sandwhich. Other than that I'd definitely go back for another.
Nice spot to stop and grab afew sandwiches from as they have 1 of the TOP Pastrami and Corned Beef selection in the State. Haven't been in since I heard new owners bought it but hopefully they haven't raised the price too much as it was borderline expensive before the pandemic started. Other than that quality meat, great staff, service and I will definitely be stopping there again, prob this summer
A new owner that loves the history of the establishment! Let's help him succeed! Looks like it needs a new roof. What else does it need? Let's keep this awesome Milwaukee landmark succeed!
Great pastrami sandwich!!!I will be back next year! The only problem that I found was that they weren't open late enough for me to go back after the show....I wanted to eat there again!!!
Heard a lot of good things about this place but hadnt tried it until today on my lunch break. They prepared my food very fast, the inside was clean and had an old-timey feel, location is convenient and just off north ave, everyone working there was friendly, and the food was delicious. Prepared and packaged well, good ingredients, and even the coleslaw was tasty which is usually a gamble. Would definitely come back & glad I tried it! Side note: respect the neighborhood if you come here, it's definitely busy but not "bad" - in regards to some strange reviews.
I only like my Momz Corn Beef but I had a Rueben and I can’t complain ??a little pricy though
I frequented this place as a teenager and young adult. I visited from Dallas hoping to taste the memories of one the past. I spent $17 on a Ruben sandwich with American cheese . and thousand Island. It was awful. the bead was soggy and sandwhich looked nothing like the advertised photo. Skip this restaurant.
Jake's has been a hometown hero spot well before my generation and I hope to see it still continue to thrive on. This place is fantastic to get some good sandwiches.
