I thought it was a poor show all he did was bang his tool on the table a couple of other things he wasn't oriental and then the server was asking us to leave an additional tip for her and the guy cooking the food was way over cooked a very poor experience .very expensive as well I don't mind paying alot if it's worth it .
This was our first time here. Our server, Mariah, was very helpful in guiding us through the various menu options. She highly recommended the chicken wings and pork dumplings! Winner! The aromatic spices on the chicken were warm and inviting! There was a little kick; when accompanied with the tasty, thick sauce it made for the perfect, “I’ll have another one” bite! The dumplings were smooth, silky and filled with flavor! Once again the fragrance of the fresh herbs was incredible! We also had the shrimp toast and beet salad to round out a very flavorful dining experience! There is an automatic service charge added to the bill so pay attention to that!
We had read about this restaurant and had been very excited to try it for a couple months. In fact, we were all excited to visit the restaurant on Mother’s Day to celebrate our mother’s special day. We made the reservation two weeks ahead of time and we’re planning on ordering their house specialty, the Peking duck. They notified us after we were seated that this is only available upon request and that there would not be any way for us to get it for our mother. We reviewed the online menu and did not find this stated anywhere, so be aware that this is not a restaurant you can just show up an order the house special, you need to let them know apparently some time before the reservation. Still, that seems like potentially it could’ve been our error. So we decided to try to make the best of the night. The waitress had shaken her head at us and walked away after we mentioned not seeing the rules on the duck on the menu. She told us it was a long day and insinuated she was just waiting to get off. We asked about other items we could order and she told us that most of the items were somewhat the same and just substituted beef or chicken, nothing according to her was really a stand out. We ordered drinks and finished our first round, she didn’t get us a second round of drinks and instead just collected our glasses. Keeping in mind we are coming in at 7 PM to celebrate and the restaurant wasn’t near closing. I looked around, other servers did seem to be pleasant and smiling. We didn’t really know what to order, the waitress wasn’t helpful as mentioned. The food we ended up getting was OK. Initially I was excited about their gratuity policy as they have 20 % added to each check automatically. I waited tables for six years myself and have respect for a restaurant that treats their servers like this, but after the experience above, it felt more like a penalty.I felt really sad for our mother as this was something she was looking forward to for two weeks and although possibly not knowing about the Peking duck and reserving it could’ve been blamed on us (even though it didn’t state that it needs to be reserved online), the waitress and the way we were treated was so negative we really had to find another activity after dinner just to change the negative vibe for Mother’s Day. It was our first visit but will consider this going forward on special occasions
This was our 2nd visit, and we don’t get the hype. For the people saying this is the best Chinese restaurant, it’s obvious they haven’t been to too many good ones. (Good clue…if no Asias are eating there, it should give you pause) We had the Duck 3 course special and the dumpling appetizer. The soup was flavorful but way over salted. The Peking Duck was delicious, and the 3rd noodle dish also had good flavor, but it too was over salted and the noodles stuck together as if they’d been glued. Both visits the dumplings and noodles were way too gummy and thick. Ambience is great, but service was strange as we had to wait at least 10-15 minutes between our courses. We much prefer (the dumplings especially) at other area restaurants.
Blown away by the amazing experience at DanDan. You can taste in the food and see in the service how passionate these people are in their restaurant. It really makes all the difference. They have plenty of options for vegans (the General Tso’s cauliflower is the best I’ve ever had) Milwaukee is really lucky to have a restaurant like this. Can’t wait to come back!
Great food great service we loved it! The food was so good I only managed to take picture of one item
Great experience and great GF food. I have Celiac and as soon as I told our server she immediately let me know that the fryer was not dedicated and grabbed me a separate menu. They take cross contamination seriously and I had the best Kung Pao Chicken I've had in a long time. Definitely coming back to try the other options.
It was awesome experience, delicious food and drinks and our server Zoe did a wonderful job talking care of us.
Updated, modern American Chinese. Dishes come out quick. They are meant to be shared among the table. Portion size was good for 2-3 people. Stand out dishes were the fried rice, egg rolls, crab rangoon, and the DanDan noodles.
What an outstanding fusion Asian restaurant! Milwaukee is lucky to have such a fine establishment our server "Wren"? Was top notch, very informative and helped us make our selections.Best Wings I've ever had, and I'm a Buffalo wings aficionado, these just knocked me out with the elegant spices and juicy LARGE wings.Bring an appetite! Also make sure you have time on your hands, food comes out fresh and hot when done, not in order. (All in order, I.e, appetizers first etc,) Dinner was a two hour relaxing experience. Will come AGAIN!
