Wow, my mom and I went here today and it was the best soul food plate I've had so far! Ribs falling off the bone, tasty mac n cheese, greens perfectly stewed and seasoned, just the right amount of spice. All the employees were so kind and friendly too, and the space was very clean. You can tell they take pride in all they do. The prices are extremely affordable too. Honestly think you guys should be charging more for this deliciousness, but I'll take a deal. The food is incredible.We had the Smothered Pork chops, mashed potatoes and gravy with collard greens and candied yams. It's some of the best soul food since my mother was cooking for me.
Went to Daddy’s Soul Food on Mother’s Day. It was pretty good. We got the fried catfish dinner with Mac n cheese, greens northern beans and spaghetti. It was pretty good. One thing this restaurant has that no other soul food restaurant is an assembly line like nobody’s business. They get you in and out which is absolutely fantastic. The young adults behind the counter were amazing and handled the line like some champions. The news media need to show these young adults working and stop showing all of the young people acting up on these streets. These workers need to be featured. Loved it!!!
I was showing properties on the North Side MKE and came across this place. What a great selection of food and for good prices! I was there on a Friday and got the salmon croquettes with 3 sides. Very stuffed.
Food was decent. Had the fried catfish and it didn't look cooked all the way. The meat was an opaque white. The string beans, and mac & cheese were good. The lemonade was good. The plain pound cake was dry. Might visit again the next time I am in town.
Overall, a pretty good experience. We got the catfish, the ribs, and the fried chicken dinners. The best combination would have been fried chicken with yams and cabbage. The black-eyed peas and rice would have been much better if they were hot. The kids enjoyed the Kool-aid with their meal. The cake was tasty but too expensive. I'll be sure to try them again.
Coming from the twin cities, I was so excited to have some soul food, this place was just OK, the food was warm and it lacked seasoning. The restaurant itself was open and inviting.
