Mike G is a phenomenal bartender, he has elevated the cocktails here to a whole entire new level. I’ve came here when it was Glass + Griddle and now Bottlehouse 42, and hands down is one of the best bartenders I’ve ever had in the entire Milwaukee area. He cares about his cocktails like no other, focuses on flavor, combinations, the before and after taste. Overall made our entire experience with his cocktail craft!
It was a group (40-50) event lunch and the team here at BH42 handled really well.Top quality food and well maintenaned place.Plenty of drink options both alcohol and non alcohol.Service could be a little tardy at times, the location and food makes up for it.Both indoor and outdoor seating is available along with decent parking and clean restrooms.
Whew....can tell it was tough night on the kitchen staff. Food was all sub par and came out cold and took forever. But manager was great and comp all the food and drink. Atmosphere here is one of the best breweries in Milwaukee I just think BH42 needs a little help. The ordering through the app is a positive.
The food order service is done via a QR code on at each table which is rather convenient albeit impersonal. The customer service is great everytime I go, and the atmosphere is pretty sweet with the glass ceiling and the plant wall and ith plenty of TV's.The Mighty Meat Skillet was drowned in beer cheese, and the eggs were overcooked turning the dish into an inedible mass of bitter goo. The fruit cup side was served in a single use plastic too. That being said, the beer was really good, and I believe that if I tried some other things on the menu, it would turn out much better than this time.
Worse dining experience I’ve had in a long time. I was here for an event being held in the building. My friend and I Decided to eat at the restaurant. The food was good however our server really ignored my table. I had to ask for water 3 separate times and finally got a glass halfway through my meal (so We sat drinkless) and my appetizer came out at the same time as my entree so I waited awhile. I also asked for Mayo for my meal and I never received it. As a past server, I was unimpressed. I understand being busy however I watched my server deliver drinks and things to other tables while I waited and either didn’t receive what I needed or I got it halfway through my meal. I am unimpressed and probably will not return. Shame since it is across from my apartment.
Great atmosphere, food and drinks. A must-go in Milwaukee.
My boyfriend and I went here and received some of the worst service I've ever had. I'd leave 0 stars if possible. When we got there it wasn't busy and we sat at the bar. We were there for a good 20 minutes without even being acknowledged. Several time we motioned to bartenders only for them to walk right by. One bartender was having a full conversation with the people next to us and refilled their drinks before we even got one. We finally got one guys attention, he told us he'd be right with us, then he totally disappeared. We got another guys attention and he told us he was busy! We got so fed up with the lack of service or even acknowledgement that we left and found somewhere better.
Went tonight after a sports game to grab dinner and a beer. There were people at the bar and seated, but nowhere near full, nor busy. Sat down at the bar and waited, no eye contact from any of the 3 bartenders. Borrowed a menu from my neighbors who did get served, then later received food. Still no acknowledgement from bar staff. 15 minutes of this went by, totally ignored. We left and went next door to be immediately served a beer at MKE Brewing, with great customer service including free samples we didn't even ask for. I know bartenders work hard and are busy, but I guess they didn't want my money.
Came here for the Friday night fish fry a few weeks ago. The place didn’t seem particularly busy for its size. We arrived about 40 mins before the kitchen closed and specifically asked if they still had fish fry and were told yes. It took a while for a server to come by and there were no na drinks available on off the QR code menu so we went up to the bar to order drinks which also took forever. The bartender oddly choose to continue conversations with people eating at the bar instead of serving us. I’m pregnant so I ordered an NA riverwest stein and was told they didn’t have that even though I could see it in the cooler. He listed of some other beers that I’ve never heard of and don’t think were na. I insisted on the na stein and pointed to the cooler. The bartender never looked but instead asked another bartender to verify they had it and needed help ringing it in. He then looked in 3 different places for the stein still not listening to me it was right behind us at the bar while having an annoyed attitude.Back at the table the server finally comes but rushes us to order cause the kitchen was closing after taking forever to come by. He said he can do the fish fry we need to get it in right away. No problem… we put the order in for some appetizers and salads as well. About 40 mins later our appetizers and salads come out. Another ten minutes go by and we’re told sorry they are actually out of the fish fry and the kitchen is now closed they can’t serve us anything else (wow their mix up and don’t offer to let us order anything else!) but it’ll be comped off the bill. Oh great. We were specifically looking to get a fish fry and would have went somewhere else if we had know they weren’t actually gonna serve us 40 mins before close… it appears the servers and cooks do not communicate at this establishment. And I’m pregnant and starving and was not told in a timely manner they were out of our entree after being told the opposite and not offered any alternative! It’s now 10pm and 99% of good restaurants are closed in Milwaukee. When I we go to pay the bill the fish fry’s we’re still not removed. It took 3 inquires with severs who kept saying they were working on it but continued to stand around and talk before a bartender we asked removed our entrees. It took two hours to basically get a round of drinks and some apps and not receive our food. My guess is the cooks wanted to close the kitchen early and service is just absolutely horrible.The owner will probably reach out saying some generic bs about how they’re working on fixing things and this will be used as a coaching tool but unless you’re going to provide a gift card for not only ruining my dinner and evening but my limited chance to get a Friday night fish fry as I don’t live in Wisconsin any more don’t bother. It’s obvious with the slew of recent, similar bad reviews over the past year the owner doesn’t care about customers or making improvements but will continue to relay on being a brewery near fiser forum for endless business and it’s association with Mke brewery. Hopefully Mke brewery will cut ties with this place.
Have to order by phone. Took over 10 minutes after ordering. Food came out about a minute after the beer. Looks to be enough staff to have waitstaff. They bring beer and food to you and were nice/helpful. But not what we were expecting for such a big place. No one to seat you, or instructions. Obviously we just went in and grabbed a table and it was fine. Had appetizers and beers. Just not our style. Went two blocks away to OT and it was awesome.Wanted to really like this place, but not sure we'll be back unless in a group that really wants to go.
