We had a great experience here at Benji's over the weekend. They were friendly and keen to customer service. Go in there hungry because the portions are just right. The Chicago dog was bigger than expected. The not so Italian beef was better than expected. I didn't hear a peep out of any of my family the whole time as they just devoured what was in front of them. It's a small place with outdoor seating. I gotta say the 80s/90s rock music playing at a low volume was pretty good. I will definitely stop by again if in town.
Been eating corned beef my whole life. Where did all the good old corned beef go? I was craving some yesterday and stopped at Benji's on Port Washington Rd. I paid $26 a pound. It was the worse! I asked for it NOT to be lean, no one cared. It was tough, not tender and breaking apart like good corned beef. It was dry, tasteless. Never again
Visiting Benji's brought back extra special memories of walking to their Shorewood location and watching Benji greeting customers. As the wind whipped rain into my face, I found comfort and comfort food in Benji's. I ordered my old standard: a Benji's- a large Corned Beef Sandwich with a dab of spicy brown mustard, 1/2 to go for dinner; fries - crispy on the outside, meaty on the inside (although chips were the standard); a Kosher dill wedge; and a Dr. Brown's Cream Soda. Warm, filling, a spectrum of textures and tastes, and absolutely DELICIOUS!! And, as I always did, I began with a warm cup of matzo ball soup - comforting, calming, filling - while the rest of my meal was being prepared. It's 32 miles one way from home, but I'll arrange my schedule to stop more often!!!
Great service, great staff and the place offers outdoor dining so on nice days u can sit on the patio and just enjoy the sunshine and a good meal.
Benji's ALWAYS worth it! He's a smarter man than I'll ever be. He can get $17.99 for a corned beef sandwich in SE Wisconsin, and people will stand in line to pay it. Take that Jake Levin's!!
If I could give a lower rating I would. Ordered a delivery order through Uber eats and received the wrong order ( half of it was correct). Called benjis and the EXTREMELY rude gentleman told me that it was the Uber drivers fault and that he took two orders with him (one was his/Uber and one was mine) and that it was his fault and he gave me the wrong one and I had to call him for refund. I asked if they would re make the correct order he said no was super short and ended up hanging up on me. I then called my Uber eats driver and he told me he went to benjis and only picked up one order - mine. Not only did benjis not fix the issue, he flat out lied, blaming an Uber driver who did nothing wrong. The food that was in the order we got has bacon which my family cannot eat so we sit here without dinner after spending $60 for 2 gross looking sandwiches. HIGHLY recommend ANYWHERE else.
Love, love the food. Very much a classic deli with sales by the pound or buy a sandwich to either eat in or to go.
I've been going here for ages, and I keep coming back for the soup. A quart of the matzo ball soup is so good when it's frigid in the depths of winter. The burger or grilled cheese is plain but very good during the summer. You can't beat it!
A little spendy but by far one of the best matzo ball soup and corned beef I have had
This place is far from my home but very nice. The person who served me was very nice even helped me get out of the door with my crutches! I usually go to the Benji's in Shorewood but this one is just as good.
