Balzac has a very pleasant atmosphere. The servers are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The ambience inside is cozy and intimate. On the patio, it is bright and airy. Their food is delicious and there is a good variety of dishes inspired by many cultures. I've tried several dishes in the couple times I've been here and they've all been delicious!
I was greeted by a waitress I forget her name, but she is in college and was very nice and engaged in conversation with explains the menus very nice and she checked up on me very frequently. She said she had to moveing somewhere else in Wisconsin to finish college "fake it until you make"I was very impressed she was very positive and polite love it. Kudos for her. I had the oysters they were delicious and the wine was great.
Every time we go, the food is phenomenal. My first time here was almost 9 years ago and I remembered it being one of the best restaurants I'd ever experienced - every time I go back, Balzac proves me right again and again! Just had a fantastic anniversary dinner with my partner, and the food came out very quickly, all staff were friendly and helpful, and the drinks and dishes were absolutely delicious. I cannot recommend Balzac enough!
I only hand out 5 stars once every few years. This deserves it. Excellent service. Great food and drinks. Overall, different from most restaurants. We really enjoyed it. It can be a bit pricey but that’s part of the price you pay for the experience.
This place isn’t just trying to be cool… it IS cool. Menu has options that will appeal to almost everyone at every price point. I’m a frequent fan of 1/2 price bottles of wine on Sundays and the week day happy hour. I often stop by to get some work done at the bar and make it less painful with a glass of wine (or 2!). Staff are super welcoming.
Tucked right off Brady Street, we expected Friday happy hour to be busy. It should be! But there was plenty of seating. The happy hour fries were delicious and the cava sparkling wine on happy hour price was also good. We enjoyed the chef's choice cheese and charcuterie board. Recommendations and service from the wait staff was awesome. Highly recommend.
Balzac is a unique experience that I cannot recommend enough. Adam and Emma are my favorite bartenders and if you are lucky enough to get Brooke as your server, buckle up. Her enthusiasm for the menu is intoxicating and her wine knowledge is beyond compare. Get yourself here for food and drinks you can’t get anywhere else.
One of the best wine bars in Milwaukee! So beautifully decorated. Just the right mix of quirky and classy. The food came out so quickly and everything was delicious. The portions were perfect for sharing. The pappardelle was amazing and I also loved the burrata. Our server Brooke was extremely knowledgeable on all the wine and cheeses on the menu and made sure we had a great time! Overall, she was a spectacular, show stopping, and amazing server and this spot is a gem!
Food is great, small portions. Got a cheeseboard, sac mac, brussel sprouts, and pork belly. Phenomonal noodles. Great drinks. The service is the worst I've ever had. EVER. Denny's feels like they give back massages in comparison. Brooke is the worst waitress. Forgot one of our dishes, never brought it up, our dishes came out at the same time and we had to rush through one of them. Waited 20 minutes to give her our order. Waited another 20 to ask for the bill. Waited 40 minutes to get the bill after asking two more times. Never even took the credit card, had to walk up to someone else to pay and get out. I feel sorry for giving her 20 percent. Great food, though. I think it was just our waitress.
my friends and i love coming here. the servers are friendly and can answer any questions you may have. the atmosphere is spectacular! when the weather is nice, they have outdoor seating as well. i love the tapas they have!!
