Overall great experience… ambiance, art, service, music, exquisite food, drinks and desserts!!
Disappointing doesn't cut it. I was really looking forward to trying Amilinda. This place hosts a James Beard-nominated chef, has guest chefs come in for specific cuisines and just seemed interesting. The staff were curteous, friendly and had us seated quickly. The menu was small (10 items, no specials) and high-priced for this area. We (a party of 4) ordered 3 appetizers: grits with cornish game hen, pork belly salad and a bacalao (salt cod) plate. Portions were good but all 3 dishes were underseasoned and bland. I had a braised beef tongue on cannellini beans that were seasoned but otherwise uninteresting. My friends had a lamb shank with garbanzos. The meat was bland and quite tough even though it was allegedly cooked for 6 hours. I saw them struggle to bite the meat off the bone, which they said was unpleasant. The garbanzos were hard (think jawbreaker candy) and completely inedible. When our waiter asked how the meal was, we mentioned only the garbanzos since they were disgusting. Shortly after, the chef came over to our table. He did NOT apologize for our bad experience in any way. I said that the garbanzos "were inedible and almost uncooked". He was visibly ticked off and told us that they were "boiled and then roasted". He then rolled his eyes and walked away from the table. We were all incredulous at his poor attitude. He may have been a recognized chef in the past but it seems that he's obviously lost his sense of decency and doesn't care to taste what he plates. Save your money and do not bother dining here.
Fantastic service and food alike. Everything was very obviously prepared not only to order but with the highest quality ingredients. The monk fish and duck rice we out entrees for when they have them and could not recommend them both enough. Thanks for a great birthday meal and see you soon!
Last night Andrea Dexter and I went out for a nice dinner to end the week, landing on AmilindaWe started the night off with two very good Sangrias and a Pork Albóndigas with Manchego Cheese and Serrano Ham appetizer that was fantastic. The main course for me was Halibut with a squash puree, while Andrea had a Pork Shoulder stew. The halibut was nice and flakey, with a charred surface, and the squash puree was sweet and smooth.Andrea's stew was tender and full of meat, but in our opinion was greatly assisted by some salt and pepperI rounded the night out with a "Portal Fashion", a Port based play on the Old Fashioned, which was also delicious.All-in-all, great atmosphere and good food. We will definitely be back to try their ever-changing menu!
I travel a lot and look for hidden treasures with food. I was super excited to try this place out. I'll start with staff, AMAZING. They couldn't do better, they were just that good. We tried 2 starters, 2 main, and a desert. The starters were amazing and made us excited for the main meal. That's where we were disappointed. We got the filet and chicken. Sadly our favorite part were the fries that came with the chicken. The chicken didn't have a lot of taste, but an occasional bite had a lot. So, none or a ton, but mostly none. Also had to pull it out of my mouth because of hidden mini bones more than once. The filet was bland as well as chewy. It took time and effort before we felt safe to swallow. I thought it would melt in my mouth, but nope. Looked perfect, but looks are where it ended. We finished our fries and gave up on the main course. We decided on a dessert. Chocolate cake was perfect. The check was less then I expected, but over all we left bummed. Did we hype it up too much in our head? I was sadly disappointed as well was my guest.
Great dining experience. Brought my Brother to Amilinda for his Birthday. We sat at the counter and absolutely loved our time with our Waiter. Incredibly delicious food with an even greater dining experience. Had fun with everyone we talked to there. Definitely recommend.
My first time here. The food was good and very unique. I had the beef tongue and my friend had the pulled pork dish. Both dishes were very good. I will definitely go again
Happy Birthday to me! I love taking my friends to places they have never been. Chef and owner Greg at Amilinda always knows how to bring it. Extraordinarily creative combinations of food that is unique and mindful yet delicious and familiar. The presentation is beautifully detailed. The sangria spoke to my soul coupled with the 5 star service, We had a wonderful experience. Thank you Amilinda. ?❤️
Awesome experience. Professional waitstaff. Food was outstanding. Perfect night out! Can’t wait to get back there.
The food was gross, really, really bad. They sat us by the door, and they have an insulation problem because it was freezing! Someone put a space heater near us as if that would help. I'm super disappointed with this place.
