My first time here and I hope to go back again when I am in Madison! I liked the eclectic decorating style and attentive staff. Every item on the menu sounded like something new that I'd like to try. My grilled walleye sandwich was delicious and my margarita was perfectly tart. The only negative comment I have is that the side salad didn't seem to have any dressing. It was just a pile of leafy greens. Same for my daughter. But the chocolate silk pie made up for it.

Your classic dive ambience with excellent food and friendly staff.Though on a limited menu while awaiting a new chef, the options are fantastic and well- made. The walleye sandwich was delicious, the house- made bun so buttery and light I almost wanted to save the unsauced half as dessert! They make their own ketchup, so if you're expecting Heinz you might have to ask.

Currently they have limited menu but really good options even if the list is small! The burger and west Andes sandwich are good BUT the Gaelic potatoes or homemade crispy thin “chips” are amazing! Love the charm and weirdness! Always a nice spot for lunch or dinner!

We were there this past weekend and they were incredibly accommodating to us. Food was really good (seriously, I’m still thinking about their homemade potato chips) and prices were so very fair. Atmosphere was incredible, servers were happy and welcoming. I will be running back here the next time we are in Madison!

This place is a proper stop for anyone looking for a cold brew and a warm bite to eat. For me: a Commuter Kolsh and a Grilled Walleye Sandwich was a fitting and filling dinner. I'd recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a meal at a bar that that has real character flowing through it. Even the house garlic potato chips had a good flavor and character to them.

Fantastic creative food that is solid and worth a visit. Great beverages both with and w/o alcohol. Ruben sandwich with the pastrami was great. Loved the side potato salad almost as much. Homemade bread was a good touch. Mike was fantastic.

I'm having a tough time with this review because I used to love this place. I wish I had left a review back then saying how great it was instead of bumming everyone out with this blurb.Third stop on our Sunday funday. Sat at any table we wanted since we were coming at an odd time of day for food; 4:00 PM. We didn't wait long before we had menus and water in front of us and our order was taken shortly after. Our food took forever to come and the longer we sat there the more we started to notice how dirty stuff was around us. The fabric covered bench backs were noticeably packed with grime and we found several brown and cracking tree leaves from Fall of an unknown year lingering next to dried up food stuck to the floor. At one point I ventured to the restroom to take inventory of the number of people in the place to offer an internalized excuse for why the food was taking so long only to find we were one of six, groups of two in the place. My mom's face sunk into deep disappointment when the table next to us, whom arrived 20 minutes after we ordered, received food before we did. I did take note what they received may have been easier to make than our two sandwiches, but still. My point drags on.Our food finally arrives and it was excellent, maybe even worth the wait. Our server did an excellent job remembering my dumb food allergy and made sure to note I'd survive this meal. That was the last time they stopped at our table. They walked past us many more times but never checked in and eventually someone else showed up to offer us boxes and bring us the check. As always, I'll give it another chance someday, just not soon.

I love the atmosphere of this place, it is like being in an English pub. They even were playing actual records on a record player which added to the ambiance. I tried the Weary's Tom Ka Tofu and it was delicious! The serving size was big enough that it will be my lunch tomorrow. The wait staff and bartender were attentive and friendly. I will be back!

what a charming place! fabulous cocktails, delicious food (I had their goulash... tiny bit spicy and perfect for a cold night), a fun atmosphere with intriguing, copious artwork, and the nicest staff. obviously a locals favorite! ?

I normally never leave reviews, but service was so terrible I had to. Was advised a pick up order would be ready in 25 mins for two sandwiches. We arrived on time and were told “they’re boxing them up now”. 25+ minutes later and still had not received food. Then was told “oh it will be less than a minute”. 5 more minutes before we were given the boxes. The food was cold. They did not give us silverware for the salads. We requested ketchup and were given marinara? This establishment is not worth the wait, ESPECIALLY if you’re a “weary traveller”.
