The Statehouse is an easy 4-star review because of its beautiful location on the lake. The food quality is reliable quality and is very good. My last experience was giving 3.5-star energy because the devil is in the details, and several details were amiss. Mushroom bruschetta was lukewarm, filet was underdone

My wife and I booked a last-minute table at the Statehouse to celebrate our anniversary after a hectic day of travel, having driven all the way from Lake Superior and dropped off the kids with Grandpa. We were exhausted and prepared for disappointment, but that rare thing happened: our expectations were exceeded. The waitress was sweet, the cocktails professionally made, and the food terrific. We got lucky with the weather, and the sunset was honestly among the most beautiful we had ever seen. It really cheered us up. Pricey but happy to spend it after all.
The view and ambiance are tremendous. The service was very excellent. The food was ok.

We enjoyed a delicious and bountiful weekend brunch sitting at a table with a wonderful view of Lake Mendota, and received top knotch service from Mathias. Dining room was quiet so we could enjoy our conversations.
