Coopers Tavern is a really cool, hip restaurant/bar across from the Capitol building. The food was outstanding - definitely get the cheese curds, they were so delicious. If you love fish and chips, ask for a shot of the malt vinegar aioli, very good. My family loved the chicken sandwiches too. If you like a good whiskey cocktail - order the "Hallelujah Jordon". Very very good. Our server was very friendly and sweet. My only complaint is that is it very very loud (and I am sensitive to noise due to wearing hearing aids). Another plus - happy hour specials 3pm - 6pm.
We were from out of town-looking for a good Sunday morning breakfast place and found this restaurant across from the Capital Building. We were able to eat outside-plenty of room-and had a fantastic breakfast. The eggs and bacon, sour dough bread and bowl of fruit were all excellent..our compliments to the chef! Our waiter (it was his first day) was also very courteous and respectful and couldn't do enough to make sure we were satisfied. We were so lucky to have found this restaurant and highly recommend it to others!
We stopped into Coopers for drinks while staying at the Concourse. Nice location and a fun bar. The bartenders were friendly and attentive (Cody and Josie), but not in an annoying way. Cody made some amazing drinks which I enjoyed even though I usually only drink beer. We also ordered some cheese curds which were very good. We will definitely return when we are in Madison again.
Absolutely awesome bartenders Cody and Josie. Got my Budweiser drinking husband to drink a fabulous sour beer mixy. Great service absolutely impressive staff. Hardly ever do I write a review but these people were welcoming, fun, kind and helpful. It’s a must stop if you are near the square. We had cheesecurds which were great. All the food coming out of kitchen was hot and looked amazing. Thank you for making me love gin again❤️

Solid food and drinks, nice beer selection. Place is well-managed and one of only remaining places open daily on the square. Service is great. Keep doing what you're doing, Coops.
Great bar!! Excellent bartenders. Guinness on tap with good selection of local beers. Looked like good cocktail selections as well.
Closer to a 5 than a 4, the sandwiches are great and the beer selection is acceptable. Pretty good cocktails. I think they like soccer here.
Somewhere between; cautious Covid precautions, the food and drink, 5 stars is simply not enough. The icing on the cake? Trevor the bartender. This makes it a 10 star experiance. I can not recommend Coopers enough.
