Recommend the oysters during happy hour. Very good. Didn't havea larger entree but they looked very good.
All-around awesome experience. The food was so delicious and the setting/mood was fantastic. Very nice and attentive staff. My wife and I just went here to celebrate our one year anniversary and I’m so happy I chose this place. My wife got the sea bass and I got the NY strip Oscar style with half lobster tail and asparagus. The tail was perfect. Everything else was great. Would recommend going here for sure.
An amazing place for seafood! One of the best restaurants in Madison. I had the pan-fried skate which was perfectly prepared. Was glad to get back to this place-- hadn't been there since before the pandemic. Dessert (pear upside down cake) was to big for one person, but had the other half for breakfast the next day. Just two little things: would have enjoyed more pears in the dessert and the restaurant does not serve espresso. Ordered an espresso and was served a big French press pot of coffee. But oh the skate! What a marvelous dish!! It was a nightly special, so if it's on the menu when you go, get it and ENJOY!
We went to Tempest Oyster Bar on a recent trip to Madison and it was so good we returned two days later. Service (from Kevin and Paul) was excellent as were their recommendations. Oysters were as good or better than east coast. We tried shrimp, scallops and grits as well as seafood bucatini and they were all exceptional. The GM Eric even stopped by to make sure we were happy. I wish we lived here - we would certainly be regulars.
You can't go wrong with 2 dollar oysters of your choice! The happy hour from 4-6 Monday through Friday is fantastic! Really good cocktails too and interesting oyster shooters. My bartender Scott was amazing, great customer service.
Another fine dining establishment owned by Henry Doane. Everything from the environment,food, and staff were excellent. I spent 2 hours there and it didn't even feel like it because I was enjoying myself so much
The food was amazing, from presentation to every bite. Sea bass was glazed and slightly sweet. Mussels were delicious. Requires reservations. Highly recommend.
We had a fabulous time for dinner. Everyone ordered something different and everyone was very happy. They are known for oysters but the fried chicken and beef skewers were also delicious! The wait staff was perfectly attentive, friendly and relaxed. The rooms are beautiful and unique, and the space is not as loud as the high-ceilinged high dollar places - we could hear each other without shouting!! Desserts were terrific. I can hardly wait to go back.
What a special treat it is to eat here. Of course the oysters are amazing, I also had the shrimp and grits, a shrimp cocktail and a bite of their steak so kindly offered to me by a friend. My what a delightful experience it is to come here with good company. Thank you Tempest, I will visit again soon and I highly recommend you do the same.
Marvelous upscale seafood dining experience. The service was spot on, and our entrees were fabulous (sea bass and king crab). My cocktail was excellent and exactly what I expected it to be. They were out of a few items (one of the oysters, and several desserts), and a large party next to our table was rather boisterous but nothing bad enough to impact our visit. Will return another time to this delightful restaurant!
