We didn't have a reservation but put our names down and they told us 45 minutes. We went next door to get a drink and they texted us saying a table was ready 15 minutes later so we hurried back over. After being seated it took 30 minutes to order drinks despite the fact that the restaurant was half empty and there seemed to be plenty of staff. Tables that were seated well after us ended up ordering before us. Basically everything went wrong, the server ended up comping our drinks due to the lack of service which I appreciated, but I still wouldn't go back. Cherry on top is that they add a 10% "service fee" to every check.
Food was good but a little pricey for what you get, atmosphere is a little cramped but service was amazing!
Delicious food with a good atmosphere. We really miss Umami but at least we can still get the food here!
Tried this place for the first time this weekend and I'm in love. There are so many yummy options to choose from that it took me forever to make up my mind. Between the 4 of us ordered the spicy tofu buns, veggie and pork dumplings, togarashi fries, Korean wings, sushi and a poke bowl. Everything on the menu was delicious. I also tried the ginger beer and it was so flavorful. My friends tried the margarita and old fashioned which were okay. On a whole, would definitely recommend this place. We will be back to try the rest of the menu.
The food is good. Presentation is nice. Service is fantastic. I tasted quite a bit tonight. Top favorite was the popcorn chicken which my pescatarian friend ordered for the table claiming her daughter loves it and sure enough it was really good and something I would 100% order again. Everything else was nice but if you like strongly seasoned food I would advise taking advantage of their sauces they have available for a small fee and adding those to dishes to really UP that flavor. If I were to dine here again I think I would stick to apps like the dumplings, fried spring rolls and popcorn chicken vs the sushi or the ramen.
All around great food here. The sushi is honestly pretty little and comes in small portions, but it has a great taste and texture to it. The pork buns were delicious as well. The atmosphere is sophisticated and well designed, and the service was great. Overall it was a very solid experience dining here and I’d recommend it to anyone searching out some sushi or ramen in the Madison area.
Actually, we ordered from Umami. The Beef Buns had soft pillowy dough wrapped around tasty bits of beef with a spicy mayo that brought it all together. The chicken and mushroom dumplings had a nice sear, and the spicy sauce was just enough to add a little character to the bite.
The main courses were okay, but nothing special. Seems like they specialize more on appetizers and drinks. The tempura cheese curds were really good but the poke had too much sauce that didn't go well with the tuna and my rice was soaked. I'd say it's a decent place for Japanese food if you compare it to other Japanese restaurants around Madison, but not a place I'd be thinking about returning to so much. Service was okay.
Went with some friends after ice skating. The menu looks so good theres no wrong choice...or choices! Our server was witty and very attentive. We all ordered different food and shared so we could all try. Definitely going back!
Phenomenal service and delicious food. Will definitely go back.
