I initially wanted to dine-in, however, the space was very limited and not the nicest, thus I decided to take it to-go. HOWEVER, the food was good and the portion size was very well valued for the price. I had the Steak Chimichanga, and really enjoyed it. The rice on the side was ok, and the beans were mediocre. The steak could use more seasoning and more spices, thus causing me to rate this place a 4 instead of a 5. Also as someone who never carries cash, I was a little surprised to see a 3% credit card fee. So if you are thinking about eating here, save yourself a couple of bucks and use cash. Overall, I really liked the food and it was the perfect sized meal to have after a long day of exploring Madison. If you like Mexican food and want to try something new and support a local business, you should give this place a try.

There is a reason why this restaurant is constantly voted one of the best in Madison. It's a bare-bones "hole in the wall" place with a space in the back for larger parties but it is the real deal - an authentic Mexican joint, the kind of place you'd find in Texas, not Americanized and everything on their menu is superb. My favorite taco place by far.
Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Was basically told I was the rude one because I spoke up that someone cut me in line despite me being there first. My food was cold and bland when I ate it so I did not finish my food. When I called to speak to a manager I was told I would have to call back tomorrow. When I then asked if I would be able to get my refund tomorrow from the manager I was told no as it has to be the same day because they wanted the food back. So I asked how I'm supposed to get my refund if nobody was there that I could talk to about my issue. I was told I could get my refund then if I brought the food back. So I drove all the way back to the restaurant for them to only try to refund me 12 dollars (which is only half what I paid). They didn't want to even give me my 4 dollar tip back. when I asked for that tip back I was told that I was just wanting more and more money and it "wasn't enough for me still". They accused me of lying because nobody else in the restaurant had complained about the pastor meat that day yet. Told me they didn't want to give a full refund because I "ate all the food" (despite having literally not eaten half of the food and bringing it back to even show it to them) they still tried to tell me I "ate all the food". I felt very ignored and disrespected despite being respectful the entire time. Wish I could rate 0 stars. Used to be a great restaurant but clearly went downhill and I won't be coming back without a proper resolution to these issues.
Busy, vibrant atmosphere and great decor. Really enjoyed our food. Great choices on the menu and nice to try something a bit different. We’re vegetarian and had plenty to choose from.
Admittedly it has been awhile since dining here but it did not disappoint. We went with a bit of a brunch featuring Huevos a la Mexicana, Pollo en Mole, and Platillo mi Rancho. Delicious.
Outstanding. This place has been a got to for years. My kids love it the burritos and chimichangas, I love the more traditional stuff. The menudo and posole are excellent. The staff is great, the prices are super reasonable. One of the best Mexican places in Madiso .
This is one of my go-to places for Mexican food. Lots of traditional menu items, and a good selection of less challenging food for the less adventurous. Great place for kids, great service, and inexpensive. Definitely a place to check out.
Trait good Mexican food! It was worth driving there even though it was totally out of my way.When you dine in, you get to have all the chips and salsa do I was surprised that she charged $5 for a small bag of chips and salsa. The salsa was amazing!
My family loves this place, the huaraches are a big hit!
