My partner and I stopped at Takumi for lunch while running weekend errands. It was a lovely place to have lunch. The sushi tasted delicious, with fresh rice, vegetables, and of course, fish. The staff was incredibly friendly and diligent. We did not have to wait long at all to be served and receive our food. Takumi's menu is quite extensive, and we hope to come back and try more of the food available.
Nice sushi place. But small area its very personal. And with the sushi bar right there it takes time to get your order. Quality takes time but its worth it. If you come during a busy time a bit cozy for sit down can barely hear yourself. But food to die for.
Great sushi and hibachi. I got the Pink Lady roll and the steak and scallop hibachi. The scallops were huge and cooked perfectly. I'll definitely be coming back.
I have been going to Takumi for many years. I am not sure if it's from doing more takeaway, or maybe staffing issues (although much of the staff seems the same), or maybe just too much business, but the quality seems to have dropped way off since the pandemic. This was never quite as good as the top tier sushi places in Madison, but it was one of my favorite and most frequented ones. Unfortunately the past several times that I have gone here the sushi has been disappointing. I hope that maybe this is just a staffing issue behind the sushi bar, but I may have to find a new go-to.
I have been to this restaurant approx 8 times since Nov 2021. Never once has the service or food disappointed me. It’s fresh, artistic and made with preciseness. It’s the only restaurant so far that’s I have visited with that consistent quality since I’ve moved back.Thank you to the staff & sushi chef(s) who are always so kind and give me fantastic service!!
Great handrolls and bento box. Love the lunch special pricing. Tempura is my fave!
Very extensive menu and great sushi. I liked the atmosphere and enjoyed the experience. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy some sushi and will definitely go back.
Excellent service and very tasty sushi. Definitely worth the visit. It can be a bit pricey, but it's worth the value. Very accommodating for families, work events, and date nights! Definitely check them out. The lunch specials are also worthwhile!
Absolutely lovely.Been coming here for years - one of our favorite restaurants in town.The sushi is always excellent, fresh, well prepared, and delicious. The atmosphere is homey, cozy, and warm and the staff are kind and attentive.While Takumi may lack the posh, modern feel of the downtown sushi restaurants, it matches or beats them in quality and taste at a more fair an economical price.
It's a terribly restaurant with unsafe food and impolite attitude from the manger!!! Don't come unless you want food poisoning and eat cleaning products that could be used to clean all kinds of dirty stuff in their kitchen! We found a fragment of metal fell off of some steel cleaning instrument after putting food in our mouth. After talking with the server, she said the manger would came and apologize. But she continued making drinks at the bar and wiping down table calmly. It seemed like she didn't bother coming to us and spending 2 seconds to apology given that we sat less than 2 meters from her bar!! After I came to her, she said the server already said you don't want another dish, and I'm busy, what else do you want me to do? I was so shocked by her response and don't even know how she could even become the manger! And she escaped away from me while I was expressing my frustration and kept shaking her head, looking like I'm being ridiculous and that kind of accident happens all the time! So who knows what other safety protocols they broke and ignored in the past as long as they keep things busy. Please do yourselves a favor and stay away from this restaurant!!
