If you do not like to inhale vomit, urine, & fecal fumes in a dark, crowded, hot, & humid environment then do not go here.I paid my cover, walked downstairs towards the dance floor, then left immediately. I was about to throw up from the smell.
Got there at 1:30 one night and doors were locked with the bouncers looking at us outside, understandable since it was 1:30 am. Then we tried another night getting there at 1:15 and the doors were locked once again… they advertise being open until 2:30 and 1:15-1:30 is plenty of time to enjoy the bar until close. I getthey have to stop letting people in at a specific time but 1:15?! People like to bar hop in WISCONSIN and there were people coming up and pulling on the doors way after we got there.
I'm giving this two stars instead of one because I hope after entering this bar I'll have a better perspective. Came here at 10pm, waited in line until 12:45am and gave up after that seeing after seeing an entire block of line still in front of us. I've waited in shorter lines for Six Flags rides. This is ridiculous. Not worth it. If you're not coming at the time the bar opens, literally find anywhere else. But of course they're one of the few dance clubs in Madison so despite the lack of appeal, it's sadly all we got. Do better Madison.EDIT: Came early at 9:40 this time and got in by 10:30, if you don't mind the long line on Thursdays then it's a decent place and it's cool that it is underground.
Overall good experience. Sometimes a bartender or two is standing around instead of serving drinks, and the line is long. Otherwise fun place to be
Always a great time. There is also a free salsa dance class on Wednesday evenings that is so much fun.
The straightest “gay bar” I’ve ever been to. Didn’t feel unsafe here, but definitely should not be labeled as a space FOR LGBTQIA+.
Having frequented Sotto and also partnered with them to host a business event, all I can say are great things about management from Sue and her daughters, and staff. The best place in Madison to dance, and drinks are super reasonable and well-made. Always a good time!
$5 cover charge. The music was good! Mostly electronic/house-ish music. Great place to dance :)
Haven't been in a while but I remember it being a good place to go to on Latin night.
Good atmosphere with alot of fun events. The have Latin dance there every Wednesday night which is fantastic. Weekends are more EDM music and can get pretty bumping too. A little crowded sometimes and humid when the fog machine comes on.
