Wisconsin does more than dairy right, this place is ridiculously good. I had ribs, brisket, fries, and baked beans. All were super good and cooked to perfection.The ribs fell right off the bone. Brisket was tasty and moist, but not to the point of being greasy. Fries were good and crispy, and the dipping sauce they included was so good!If you are looking for a great bbq spot around Madison your search is over.
Hidden gem! It’s off the beaten path and may seem small, but this place is the real deal! I’d HIGHLY recommend the pulled pork shoulder dinner with Mac n cheese. I got the beef brisket, which was good, but tried my husbands pork and it was amazing! I also love that they generous apply BBQ sauce that looks homemade and is very flavorful! The potato salad was excellent as well. HIGHLY recommend!
Long live Smoky Jon’s! That grill master they got back there has got some talent. Says he’s been doing it 23 years. That’s a national treasure if you ask me :)Best BBQ in Madison, possibly in Wisconsin. I haven’t traveled enough around here yet to know. The ribs are probably the best I’ve ever had.
It's been awhile since I've eaten here and was a little disappointed. The brisket sandwich was a little salty, mashed potatoes and corn were kind of blah. I'll try again because I know how good the food can be.
The Worst! Stopped by to inquire about a 100 person BBQ to cater for my son's rehearsal dinner in July. Could not have been treated ruder! Staff had no knowledge if chicken was even an option on the menu. There were 6 of us that wanted to place an order to try the items that we were planning to order. The place was empty, it was 6:30 pm on Friday March 25, 2022, now I understand why! The employees were the worst, not at all friendly, helpful or accommodating. It was as though we had inconvenienced them by walking into the restaurant. They were surveying us, apparently not interested in catering a gay, multiracial rehearsal dinner. Were mostly concerned that my son had a 3 pound puppy in a closed carrier and asked us to leave. It was our pleasure! Went to Beef Butter BBQ and made the arrangements, much better atmosphere, great employees and product!
This is the best barbecue in Madison, bar none. Why are you bothering with any place else? Sweet, tangy, spicy bbq sauce and tender meat smoked for hours and hours. No brew but I honestly didn't miss it, the meat and sauce were so good. Big portions, reasonable price, old-timey decor like a Texas roadhouse. Highly recommended.
I was fortunate enough in 2014 to drive past Smoky Jon's on my way to work, it just so happens I have relatives that live near Madison where I was working out of town( I am from MN) at the time. My friend and I bought $100 worth of food... We went back the next day and spent even more!! Absolutely one of the best BBQ places in all of my travels anyways! The original barbecue sauce is absolutely AWESOME!! I literally put it on almost everything! I have just received my second case(12 bottles each) in two years lol!I would STRONGLY suggest you give Smoky Jon's a try if your in the Madison area!!
Hadn’t been to Smoky Jon’s in a few years, so happy we trekked in to the north side today. Staff was very friendly and helpful with ordering off the large menu. We had ribs and the shredded pork with sides….absolutely outstanding. Put together just right-no need to ask for more sauce and portions were perfect. Can’t say enough about the staff and the food. O and it smells awesome in this place. Didn’t try the brisket so maybe next time but it’s going to be hard to get off them ribs.RIP Jon.HIGHly recommend.
Awesome BBQ and the location is clean and cozy. Highly recommend!
