This was amazing! Super unique and flavorful. The restaurant was very beautiful and modern.

Absolutely excellent food. Some of the best sushi I think I've had. Very light. Very delicious! Sake was undoubtedly amazing ? Absolutely a pleasure! We will be back for sure!!

Visited Sequoia for a date night. I wouldn’t recommend the restaurant and won’t be returning. Overall, there are plenty of other Madison restaurants that offer similar menu items and prices, with a much tastier execution. For context, we were so excited to try this restaurant and the menu had us really excited. We started off with the jasmine tea, baked mussels, pork gyoza, and pork buns. I liked the mussels. The pork buns were okay, but it seemed like they skimped on the filling. We picked out the Sequoia Deluxe and Sequoia Ramen for entrees. The sushi that was served was sub par. The fish seemed fresh, but the rice was dry and stiff. The dish came with a California roll, which was shockingly mediocre. It was dried out, and cut unevenly. The ramen was also disappointing, with a lackluster broth. In addition to this, service seemed a bit chaotic and slow even though the restaurant only had about 3 other occupied tables.

One of the best places in Madison for a nice date night out. Small and beautifully furnished restaurant and an excellent bar. We had very attentive service, with two waiters continually making sure everything was going great for my husband and I.I will say hands down they serve the best custom Mule I've ever had. Don't hesitate to order the Wisco-Mule, it's so perfectly balanced and delicious. We ordered the Sequoia Ramen for each of us and a Torched Roll with salmon to share. The sushi was amazing and so fresh, literally melted in your mouth. The broth in the ramen was something I could eat every day and be happy. If you haven't been here yet you're truly missing out on something special.

I love this place! All the ingredients are fresh, which is key for a good sushi restaurant. I also like that they have grilled choice for sushi and rolls (grilled salmon roll or sushi is really good) for people who don’t necessarily enjoy raw fish. The owner is very friendly and is willing to provide good service. I recommend this place!

What a great place for dinner!!! My parents and I loved the Gyoza as an appetizer. Also the sushi we ordered was astounding. Even though we did not drink, every thursday you can get $10 off any bottle of wine. I recommend The Vilas and The Vegetarian rolls! The vegetarian roll was amazing, and i was not expecting the flavors melting into each other.

2 star experience with 4 star food! Came on Valentine’s Day and when I say we didn’t get our drinks for 30 minutes after were seated. To be honest it was almost 40. That’s because it took our sever 15 minutes to take our app and drink order after we sat. (It was busy, but not packed wall to wall) Then our food just took too long. Server was nice and comped the drinks, but her shift was done apparently during our meal and so she left without telling us. Someone else took over but they seemed a bit confused, so again we waited to get our checks as she was MIA. So we skipped dessert. My biggest issue was at no point was a manager visible on the floor or touching tables checking on guests experience. To me that’s wHat sets good restaurants from great ones. We might be back but that’s because the sushi was pretty good.

Trader Joe’s across the street has better sushi, I’m not joking. Every roll was filled with copious amounts of cucumber which was super strange. One roll was supposed to have avocado but nope, just cucumber! CUCUMBER FOR EVERYBODY. Clearly it’s a ploy to cut back on cost. I have never once in my life ordered a spicy tuna roll and had it come out with flipping cucumber in it. Felt like we inconvenienced the staff with any request. Definitely won’t be back. Oh and my Crop Circle Wheat was so old and sour that I couldn’t finish it. I didn’t bother to tell them because they wouldn’t have cared anyways.

The food here was spectacular. We got 2 specialty and 1 regular roll between two of us and barely got through it. 2 probably would have been enough. Overall the quality of the Sushi was amazing. Get the '1843' roll. You won't regret it. Great vibes, great service, will definitely be back

Decided to give Sequoia a try for Valentine's Day. I know it was Valentine's Day but in general felted rushed when it wasn't too busy being later in the evening. Ordered a couple of apps and rolls/sashimi and everything came out at once which was a first for me at a sushi spot. For the sashimi platter didn't really get a lay of the land on what was on the platter. My place setting didn't have utensils and also took awhile to get dishes for soy sauce. The rainbow roll was good and we also enjoyed the steamed dumplings. Overall an okay experience that left a lot to be desired for a menu that dollar for dollar is in line with RED and others in the area where we've had better personal experiences.
