They charged $2.00 for ice in a $12.00 drink. Its only $2 but Ive never seen a restaurant charge for ice in a drink
We've been wanting to try Red for a while because we've heard good things about the sushi. Finally, we got a reservation for two on a Tuesday night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We arrived about 6:45 pm and it was loud, really busy. We were escorted to our table (some of the tables are very close together) and it was a bit disappointing to be seated at a small two person table between two other couples where I could easily reach out and touch them. Second, it took a good ten minutes before our waitress stopped by our table. We ordered a couple specialty cocktails (the Perennial Bloom $14 and Toki Old Fashioned $15) and started looking over the menu. We only recently started eating sushi (in Florida and Hawaii) and were lucky to have really great waitstaff who made fabulous recommendations. At Red, we asked for recommendations and our waitress told us her favorites but didn't elaborate. She went away for a long while and then came back. We ended up ordering Salmon Lover, Tsunami, and Negi Toro rolls. I'd describe them as pretty good but not memorable or even exciting to eat. It was another long wait before our waitress checked in so we asked for a box for leftovers. We didn't end up ordering desserts or additional drinks because we'd already been sitting there for about 90 minutes. Overall, I'd say the sushi was pretty good but the service and ambiance were a disappointment. Perhaps the bar was set too high from our two earlier experiences eating sushi in FL and HI. The location is close to the capitol and it was easy to find on street parking.
The best sushi place in town. Good place for date night.Good ambience with red color interior theme. Friday nights are busy. Recommended reservation. Chef's and waitress were friendly.Red signature roll is amazing. Mini explosion happening in our mouth for every bite. Ingredients were fresh. Food presentation is appetizing. If Someone wants to see the preparation and talk with chefs, then ask for chef's table. Waitress was friendly, and service was great. Window side, winter night, sangria and sushi - one of the best combo.Outdoor seating available. Main Entrance is inside a building whose entrance faces southeast. Wheel chair accessible.I will come back to this restaurant. And for sushi lovers I recommend visiting it.
Delicious and classy sushi restaurant in a convenient location. A bit pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for, and the presentation is impressive. Estimates on fulfilling orders are way off, though, we typically wait an extra 15 or so minutes before our order is ready. The patio makes waiting through winter totally worth it, great summer outdoor dining experience.
We were excited to order our sushi, but between the wait and not amazing food we left disappointed. Our order was about 20 minutes later than we had been told. The next day we bought sushi and Festival Foods for about 1/2 the price and it was actually more flavorful.
We had an amazing experience a few months ago with our server and food. The drinks were great and it was nice to have an option for unique cocktails that we haven't seen before. The server was SUPER knowledgeable about food allergies. We had a large group, with 3 different people who had different and serious common food allergies (gluten, dairy, shellfish) and she did amazing making sure that we got to have some of the special signature rolls. Our food was as ever, delicious. This is now our go-to Sushi place.
Extraordinarily delish!! Loved the seasonal rolls and the classics were so tasty. Excellent service. The green tea was superb with loose leaf tea! A nice view of the snow showers while dining. A lovely experience!!
As a vegetarian, they had a fantastic offering of fish-free sushi (despite the obvious oxymoron therein) and a sake list that makes it hard to stop at just one selection. Never had the unique flavor combo of chocolate and miso in a crème brûlée? Well this just might be the spot for you!
Sat to the bar. Saw them preparing the food freshly. Service from the server was very attentive. The food was excellent and will visit again when next in the area.
High quality sushi in Madison - we loved this place since we were looking for some good sushi in the Madison area. We were not disappointed. The prices were rather high though in comparison to other parts of the country, but the flavors were delish and worth it.
