Oh, Maharani, you have a special place in my Indian-food-loving heart. The shahi curry is on point — so much so that it has converted my wife to being a shahi lover. Your garlic naan blows other garlic naan’s out of the water. The portions and price align. I’ve never had a bad experience here — and even if I did, they’ve earned a second chance from me.

This was the worst Indian food I have ever eaten. The baingan bhartha tasted like someone had dumped a jar of Old El Paso salsa in a dish, then wafted an eggplant over it. It was inedible. The plak paneer was flavorless and dry. My wife’s Samosa appeared to have been dropped, then stuffed, completely smashed, into a to go container. There was hair in our food. I spent over 100.00 on a meal that went mostly uneaten. I never go out of my way to leave a bad review of a restaurant. I’ve worked in restaurants and I know that it is hard work. Plus folks are short-staffed these days. But this meal was so spectacularly bad that I reached out to the restaurant to ask for at least a partial refund (another first). They didn't bother to respond, so I am breaking my rule and leaving this review.

By far the most favorite Indian cuisine ever. Only place I order this culture of food from. Always quick and professional. Always prepare and pack my order when purchase on delivery apps. Food always fresh and hot. Love, love, love!!!!

Went today…just avoid !!! First - no buffet, second- the lady staff was exhausted and irritated to her lungs and lastly we ordered chicken biryani…see pics, a disaster and to my fun the staff was arguing with me thats its how biryani is made.Really!!! …never ever going again !!!

Sad experience. Poor ambience overall. Entrance blocked with chairs, not sure why. Kids commented that music was dull and boring. More importantly multiple plates were unclean with food particles stuck to the plates. Salt and pepper shakers were dirty from prior use, not sure when they were last cleaned. The server looked like she didn't want to be doing what she was doing. No greetings or checking in between. Before bringing in 2nd round of food, didn't bother taking away the unclean appetizer plates first. Food was OK not great. The vegetable Biryani was honestly bad, didn't taste anywhere like what a biryani should be.

really great food! wasn’t suprised to see all the comments on the service, it is very poor and the servers do feel a bit cold. the food is and always has been really really great

I don't know how anyone can give a good review for this restaurant . Giving a 1 rating just coz cant put a review otherwise . The entrance was blocked with chairs and we thought we had come in at the wrong entrance . And then a very rude lady showed us to a table . Waited for like 15mins for them to come and tell us that all of the staff were having lunch and it would take another 15-20mins for them to come and take the order - what?? - ok the food was not great either . Both ladies serving us had a terrible attitude - Not going there ever again !! . Phew!

It was my first evening in Madison, Wisconsin and I was craving Indian food. I entered Maharani and it was love at first sight. There were still beautiful Christmas decorations inside and it felt so festive and jolly. My server was so accommodating and kind. I enjoyed my vegetable curry dish with rice, and garlic naan.Filling and delicious. The masala chai was the perfect cup of tea on a cold evening, so soothing and flavorful. Prices were decent for the portion size. My only regret is not eating here again. My visit to Madison, Wisconsin was just a few days and one of my biggest highlights was my amazing meal at the outstanding Maharani Indian Restaurant. What a gem of a place.

This restaurant treats GrubHub and Doordash drivers very poorly. Not only are they consistenly very late on orders but they also view delivery drivers as less-than human. Once they made me wait half an hour for an order that was supposed to be ready by the time I get there. When I asked if I could use their restroom, they first told me they didn't have one. After I said I don't believe that, they told me the restroom was only for customers. I asked for an exception to the policy as I had to wait such a long time due to their own fault, but they still denied me a quick restroom visit.

Haven't been here for many many years, but recently placed an order for delivery and was very happy. Had a variety of appetizers, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Tikka Dosa, Naan and Cheese Naan. That was the best Cheese Naan I've ever had. Loved that white crumbly cheese (not Feta, but not sure what type it was) plus the cilantro was delicious. The regular Naan was also very good. For the mixed appetizers, the Samosa was a bit spicier than I normally like, the Aloo Tikki was okay, and both types of Pakora were very good. The Chicken Tikka Masala was excellent; no complaints at all. The Chicken Tikka Dosa was interesting and had nice flavor, liked the rice crepes, but was needing something; when I reheated my leftovers the next day, I added sour cream which was a nice addition. I had also ordered a side of Mango Chutney, which I didn't care and I'm not sure why but the flavor just was off-putting to me. So, overall I was quite happy and will order again in the future.
