We always have the most amazing food at Lao Laan-Xang and couldn’t be more impressed with the catering we had at our reception a couple weekends ago. Highly recommend!

Sticky rice was consistency of day old concrete. Contained one small rice serving for two entrees. Forgot to add spice level like the other location did.The Willy street location was way better. Avoid ordering from this one if you were a fan of the other restaurant……

Great food. However, extremely insulting to be asked how spicy I want my meal and answer, then audibly hear a different wait staff tell my server not to serve me what I asked. I understand I am white, but either serve me what I ordered or tell me you won't.I enjoyed my extremely pleasant and sweet curry, but it definitely wasn't what I wanted or ordered and had basically no spice to it. What am I supposed to do once you've fully made my meal, served it to me and you changed my order without letting me know? Send it back and waste a good meal because you wouldn't listen? Just so astounding.

Apparently there are 2 restaurants with the same name - but not related - that are less than a mile from one another. I don't know what's in the name, but probably something important in Lao, since they like naming them this way. This one is located in the historic Barrymore Theater building on Atwood Ave. I was thrilled to discover that they offer stuffed chicken wings - something that I was looking fro since the demise of the Bahn Thai - the only place that I knew that served them.

My boyfriend and I ordered through Eat Street. AFTER AN HOUR they called and said they were out of chicken. My entire meal :( Disappointing but no biggie EXCEPT before we could respond to say just cancel order...they hung up. We immediately called back to cancel. No answer. Called Eat Street. They said they would only cancel if Lao Laan agreed. Well since they waited SOOO long to call us our "half" order was already out for delivery so they refused. HORRIBLE. My boyfriend and I have been in the restaurant world for many years AND we love this neighborhood and local spots. This is not how you treat your neighbor. Much less one that has often ordered from you. DO BETTER please.

Went there for the first time last night celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. Food was amazing. They offer 4 levels of spiciness. I went with 3 and it was perfect. The iced Thai Coffee and Tea is amazing. The service was top notch. Nice atmosphere inside. Seating is spaced out where you don't feel cramped or feel like you're sharing a meal with strangers sitting next to you. Can't say enough good things about this place. I'll let the pictures do the talking.

We came here based on it being on multiple “best of Madison” lists and were very sad to find it’s just mediocre Thai food.

My first visit to this restaurant and also my first taste of this cuisine. We visited on a Saturday night, and they were extremely busy and also a little short-staffed, but we didn’t mind waiting a little longer than normal. Crab Rangoon was very good for our appetizer, and our group mainly stuck to the curry dishes - pork or chicken. Be aware of your spice choice - the dishes can be extremely hot! A great meal with generous portions - we will definitely be back!

What can I say? The food here is absolutely delicious and authentic! Make sure to start off your meal with one of their delicious appetizers like grilled chicken, crab rangoon, and coconut breaded shrimp. Kind waitstaff was another highlight of our visit. I would love to know the difference between this one and the other location because I am not sure if they have the same menus. The vibes are also different between the restaurants. Looking forward to returning!!!
