We ate at Great Dane Brewing on the recommendation of a friend. we had no expectations, just looking for a dog-friendly patio to eat at when we stopped for the night in Madison. WOW! Most excellent! Fish tacos were delicious. The Chimichurri Steak Salad was delicious. The Amalfi Coast cocktail was epic. We drive through Madison quite often and will definitely stop here again.
This place is highly overrated. The cheese curds were not hot and not very good. I had a batter fried spicy chicken sandwich that was not edible. I’ve been to the Midvale location years ago which was better. The food here was the worst I’ve had in this area. It’s hard to grasp a business based on serving good food would serve such disappointing food. It was really that bad. I ate maybe 1/4 of the food I ordered.
I spend a lot of time in the virtual reality recreation running around manically while dressed as knuckles. While I haven't tasted the non-virtual offerings, I have run across the creator of said world without realizing it at the time, & the look on his face man, it was as if he had created something holy, a snapshot of a perfect moment in time. This place must have created some very magical memories. If I visit Wisconsin this will be a mandatory pitstop but let's be real, who travels to Wisconsin on purpose? Still, it's the perfect weed route to the east seriously look it up you can ferry. Anyways, thanks for the memories through the transient properties of magic even if you never got any of my e-money. BTW someone spilled beer in the stairwell
Service was outstanding, we sat at the bar. Was disappointed that they didn't have an IPA on tap, which is a staple of Great Dane; Settled on a mixer. Ordered food which came promptly, but my wings were overcooked; couldn't eat. I sent them away and was offered a substitute to which I declined They did of course remove this item from the bill. Shared my wife's burger with her which was excellent. Food thats not top notch should never leave the kitchen; ever.On another note, this place does need to pay attention to cleanliness. The bar top was dirty, the doors entering the restaurant from the outside are covered in gross handprints and you can see that cleaning has not been a top priority . We've been coming to Great Dane for years and this is the first time we've seen the establishment look "unkept". Would consider trying again since we've had more good experiences than bad.
Stopped on our way to Minnesota for lunch. Nice outdoor seating, good beer and great burgers. Server was pleasant, food was good!
Went to East side. Had a lovely time. Tried the beer (the darker house favorite). Had poutine for the first time. Recommend it with a protein. FANTASTIC staff. Charming atmosphere, even though it was packed and I'm grossly antisocial. Disappointed by there not being a mirror where a door is (joke). 12/10 will recommend to everyone.
I ADORE the Great Dane. I’ve never been disappointed by any of their locations! Incredible Beer, fantastic cheese curds, and amazing staff!Major shout out to Elizabeth and Anna at the East Side location for so kindly welcoming me and my pandemic puppy, who I brought with to hang out on the patio.BE KIND TO YOUR WAIT STAFF AND BE PATIENT. The service industry is an overworked, under appreciated industry especially during the chaos of this pandemic. Everyone is just trying their best to get by.Take negative reviews with a grain of salt, PLEASE. I never want to dismiss anyone’s negative experiences, but I urge you to please be kind.But anyway, please support one of the absolute best breweries we have here in Madison! :)
We are there yesday and it was fabulous. There were 5 in our party and it was the best experience. Waitress was the best we have had in a long time and knowledgeable of the menu. All of our food was really good. Will definitely go back as there were many things we want to try. At first we thought it was expensive but the portions were big and we all went away very full. We had shrimp tacos, Mexican Bowl, pot pie and 2 had beet salad and one w/salmon. Everything was primo. Kudos to all!
