Another fantastic dinner, smelt,cheese curds , caesar salad and pan seared walleye were very tasty.
Solid food and beer selection. Went for dinner and had the cheese curds app and the chicken parm sandwich. The curds were really good and light. I would highly recommend. The chicken parm sandwich sounded delicious but I thought it was lacking flavor. The giardiniera wasn't as flavorful as I'd expect and the chicken was lacking some seasoning. It was a good sandwich, but definitely could use a jolt of flavor. Their desserts are really good, but a little expensive for the portion you get.
Stopped in with my wife for a quick dinner and was blown away. She had the crispy sweet potato and honeycrisp apple salad. I had the Guanajuato pizza. I've eaten alot of pizza in my life and this was one of the best and most unique flavor profiles I've had. I absolutely loved it.

Food, service, and atmosphere were awesome. They are family friendly. We ordered the kids meal right away and they brought it out a few minutes later! The eggplant appetizer special was recommended by our server and she nailed it. It was delicious. The blue gill BLT, baked walleye, and oysters were great. We were just visiting friends in Madison but I wish we had a place like this in our town.
The beet salad was so good!! Pizza was great! Service was excellent!!!!! We can't wait to come back.My only complaint would be to serve the aperol spritz in a large wine glass.We can't wait to come back!!
Gates & Brovi opened in 2012 and gave life to an area of Madison that serves mostly as a transition to others. Before you go, just be aware of parking. There is a small lot with limited spots a couple doors down that it shares with the Cat Annex.Once inside, the restaurant gives the vibe of your local neighborhood bar, but with an extra layer of comfort. I’ve visited on many occasions from happy hours and casual dinners to brunch special events and even my bachelor party. Everyone there is kind and provides for a wonderful experience.As far as the food goes, everything is amazing. I have not had a disappointing meal. For starters, don’t sleep on the smelt. It’s salty and tasty with a tangy tartar sauce to dip into. My first love here was the shrimp po’boy. A big highlight is their pizza. There are traditional offerings and then some true stunners like the Clam, Italian Sausage and Leek and the Guanjuato! For my bachelor party we ordered one of each for our group of 13 and it was the perfect amount of food. We also did a round of oysters which were a delightfully fun treat.Go here once, fall in love and then go here often.
