Lovely local Italian restaurant in Madison. Fell in love with their pesto gnocchi and the blue cheese ice cream.
We loved dining at Fairchild! The pasta is where it's at--really incredible and delicious. I'd recommend ordered every pasta dish on the menu to share. They were also very kind to do some delicious buttered noodles for our kiddo. All of the veg. side dishes were also amazing! Wonderful staff and service, too!
Madison’s food scene is fairly lackluster, but there are a few gems - Fairchild is easily one of them. Great ambiance, extensive wine and other beverage offerings, extremely attentive service, and food that is on the next level of design, taste, and quality. Definitely a place for foodies and those who love a good bottle of wine!
Delicious, perfectly cooked, great drinks, and the staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Great place for special occasions or for a nice date.
We were lucky enough to get a last minute reservation early on a Saturday night. From the minute we walked into the door we were welcomed by Nancy who ended up being our main server. She was friendly, knowledgeable of the menu and super kind to our 8 month old who we brought with us. My husband enjoyed the cocktails he had and my mock tail was unique and tasty. We had a number of items from the snack menu and all were very good. My husband and I both got pasta dishes (the pappardelle bolognese and the tagliatelle) and both were so good I couldn’t pick a favorite. We have tried other new restaurants in town, some with many recent accolades, and this one is by far our favorite! The food, the service and the ambiance all top notch. Can’t wait to go back!
Fairchild is such a wonderful restaurant. We went for our first time last night and were extremely hungry. The entire menu is comprised of normal Wisconsin food with a twist. Take for example the Rye dumplings which had the familiar appearance of meats balls, but tasted better than any meatball and gravy dish I had ever had before. This is a constant theme. Fairchild makes better food than you could possibly as a home cook. The flavors, textures, and temperatures are smarter than I am. The octopus appetizer was unbelievably tender. Every sauce, garnish, and seasoning felt like it was required and I scraped my plate clean every time. The roasted mushroom side had little fanfare on the menu, but it was fantastic. I cannot wait to go back!!!
Don’t be discouraged by underwhelming decor at this petite restaurant. The lighting is perfectly dim. The dishes are crafted carefully and masterfully. I enjoy the salmon tremendously as well as apple pie with a scoop of ice cream on oats. Cocktails are delicious. Please give it a try.
From drinks to dessert everything was amazing! Every bite was unique and delicious. Cannot wait to come back!
