I have lived in Madison. Since 2015, why am I just now trying this place? Low key, off the radar, local diner. Small and cozy. Since it’s small it’s not hard to get someone’s attention if you have a question. The bagel of the day that I had, with both bacon and sausage was a bit greasy, but I love a sloppy sandwich so for me it was a positive. YMMV.American fries, while not as presentable as other places, they still tasted amazing. I couldn’t put my fork down once I tried them.I have only been here once so this is based off of that one experience. But let me tell you, I have been to many places for lots of different things, u will come back to this place again real soon.Amazing staff, amazing experience, and amazing food. 10/10.
My dad took me and my siblings here when we were children around 7. This was our favorite spot for breakfast. Over the years many owners took over. One day I decided to take my family here.The waitress Dani was really sweet and hard working. She got to us quickly and met all of our needs. The food on the other hand is a hard pass for me as well as the cleanliness. I will not be returning nor recommending this place to anyone. Sorry.

My favorite breakfast restaurant in Madison. If you wondered what it was like before chains, Sysco and restaurants full of strangers, check out Fair Oaks. Excellent classic diner food in generous portions at fair prices. My favorites: Bomblet, huevos rancheros, and the plate-sized pancake. A neighborhood institution. Tell the owner how much you like the food. It will make her happy.
I ordered the Denver Skillet with cheese. It was way over cooked. The eggs over medium were cooked too long and no longer had yoke. My french toast had an onion taste almost as if the grill was not cleaned or scraped between orders.
Every time we visit family in Madison Fair Oaks Diner is always our go to breakfast spot. I would highly recommend the Huevos Rancheros and be sure to enjoy the patio when the suns out.

Had hamburger with onions and delicious French fries! Reminds me of my childhood. Can’t get better than that and super inexpensive.
