Stopped in on a whim, and loved our experience! Jimmy, the manager, was tending bar and was very knowledgeable about bourbon — we tried a few that we hadn’t had before…some we loved, some just ok — but glad we tried them! The food is excellent, too! Overall was a great experience — highly recommend!
We stopped in here for a week day lunch and practically had the place to ourselves. That concerned us at first wondering why no one was there, but we enjoyed our brisket and pulled pork sandwiches. Service was some of the best we have had, very attentive and checked on us often. I would stop again while in the area.
GOOD ENOUGH FOR A GATOR!!!This place is the best kept secret in Madison regarding food. People in this city are usually too finnicky and don't want to try new things, which isn't doing Docs any favors. Here though, the portions are sizeable, prices are reasonable, and the flavors are out of this world. City BBQ (which is much worse) is right on the corner of Mineral Point road, and probably steals all the customers away from this place, which sucks, because Docs has much better food and a nicer atmosphere. There is a good chance this place won't be here next year, so get it while it's good.
Absolutely great! The food was amazing! The staff incredibly accommodating and super friendly! Great experience! I highly recommend! Hardest salad I ever had to eat! But I did have a side of brisket! Amazing drink menu!
This was a place in close walking distance to our hotel, while traveling. Was not super impressed with the interior, though it was clean. Just seemed kind of empty, without a lot of personality. However, the staff were very pleasant and made good recommendations. The brisket was super tender and flavorful. I loved the flash fried, smoked wings- I like extra crispy and most places serve rubbery wings. Everything tasted freshly made, rather than heated up frozen food. Really liked all of our selections, which included fried pickles, wings, smoked chicken and brisket, with sides of mac&cheese, greens, and chili. Awesome bourbon and whiskey selection, and a wide range of beer on tap. We were glad we happened across this place.
This was my first time visit and I had a take out order. Brisket sandwich, brisket chili as a side. Food is super delicious and the portions were crazy huge!! Need to ask for sauce as the sandwich is served dry which is good. You can choose from 3 different sauces. Brisket is tender and moist just as is. Looking forward to returning and dine in!!
Went to Doc's for the first time the other day. Was pleasantly surprised. I was not expecting much from a "mall attached" restaurant. The BBQ was great a close second to the spots I like I. Middle Georgia. Staff was very friendly and informative. Extensive bourbon list, I would have liked to see more bourbons from local craft distilleries. I will need to try the Milwaukee location to see if it is the same.
This is located outside of West Towne Mall. The brisket and ribs were delicious. There were 5 different bbq sauces on the table. I like my bbq w/out sauce and it was really good. I like my brisket more on the fatty side and it a good amount of fat. My sides were mac&cheese and baked beans, the beans were the right amount of sweet & tangy. The meal came with white bread. For dessert we had the carrot cake and it was a little on the dry side. Only bad part of the meal. Great service. My friend had brisket more lean with coleslaw and potatoe salad, she enjoyed everything.
First time there. Excellent. Wife had the fish fry which they just started serving and said delicious. Best tartar sauce ever. I had ribs which were excellent. Only part of meal I was not happy with was Mac and cheese. More like a cold Mac salad-cold and definitely mayonnaise. The staff was wonderful. Will go back!
We shared the 3 meat 2 sides option for lunch and it was fantastic! I don't eat out very often because I had gastric bypass surgery in 2011. Most often then not it does cause me issues with my stomach. I am excited to say that I had no issues eating here. ??
