Best BBQ in Madison. I grew up around the BBQ mecca of Kansas City and have long searched for a decent BBQ joint in Madison. Having eaten here 5 times I can comfortably say this is it. The pulled pork is consistently perfect. It melts in your mouth. The BBQ sauces are well balanced and the coleslaw has the perfect amount of tang. Reasonably priced and quick as well. Thank you City BBQ for being a shining beacon of light in this God forsaken town that knows nothing of proper smoked meats.
We used City BBQ to cater our wedding and we are so glad we did! Their staff were outstanding and the food was a hit. We got so many compliments and so many guests went up for seconds :) We did a full pig roast with them and it was amazing. Andria is so easy to work with and made our day go by so smoothly. Highly, highly recommend for any of your events or just to stop by for a dinner. So delicious!
GREAT food! Excellent service! Trish was awesome… super welcoming to our group of five newcomers. The judges sampler was perfect for our group, with two light older folks eaters, two medium middle aged, and one typical adult male eater.. with at least two full meals take away.
I had a bologna sandwich and pulled pork sandwich Folsom far. The sauce is really good. If you like lemonade then you got to try a glass because it is good.
The staff were all very friendly and seemed appreciative of the business. A few of them checked in with us to see how our food was while we were eating, which was nice. Most importantly, the food was really good. The hush puppies were my favorite! We are BBQ snobs and this didn’t disappoint. Was shocked to find they weren’t packed on a Friday night like North and South was a couple blocks away.
My partner and I both did the pick two meats and added the sides. Sorry no picture, we were hungry. You can pick the type of brisket (fat or lean), so watch that. We picked brisket, ribs, 1/4 chicken, and pulled pork. They were all quite good and the sides, potato salad, salad, hush puppies and corn bread. Again all were good. If you like sweet baby Ray's bbq sauce, choose the original or sweet. Both are tasty and I did try the mustard, good for a different flavor... more mustard. The service was awesome too! Will go back there again.
This food was so good… This was my first time going and I’m glad I did. The service was amazing the restaurant was so clean and the lemonade made the meal. I will be back
First time here, tried the city Sampler, plenty for 2! More of a Kansas City style BBQ. I was impressed with the turkey! It was so moist!! Pulled pork also very good, the brisket was a little dry and low on flavor. Sides!!! Potato Salad was awesome, and baked beans were molasses and smoky!Banana pudding cup was a great finish!
While the location was being built, my coworkers and I made South Park references with the name on many occasions while heading to a job site just up the road, BUT it was anything but that joke.I made a good clip through the City Sampler, but the sausage and turkey were definitely a battle. Everything was well smoked, well seasoned, and most importantly, not over cooked.I had coleslaw and baked beans as my sides. The beans were hard to put down. The sauce was sweet, with a nice spice to finish. The coleslaw... was the one thing that I wish I would have tried something else. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't on the same level as the rest of the meal.I would certainly go a bit out of my way to eat here again.
Is it the best Barbeque I've had? No, but it is better than Beef Butter IMHO. The brisket was actually flavorful (a little too much salt for my taste but ok) but juicy and goo and was palatable without sauce and the sauce was not bad. Not Smokey Jon's good (my favorite bbq sauce in Wisconsin) but good.
