Amazing simply amazing !!
This place is amazing, the escargot and very simple yet very good, great place to try it for the first time. We ordered also the steak frites and it was amazing. What we really fell in love with were the moules frites, incredibly flavorful mussels, one of the best I’ve ever had! We’ll be coming back!
This is a lovely little French bistro, with all the flourishes you want from a French restaurant (great wine, good service, beautiful plating) with none of the stuffiness you might anticipate from a French place. You're equally in place wearing a dress or jeans. The menu is heavily seasonal, and while it dabbles in experimental and progressive cooking, it largely limits the experimentation to technique, meaning the food is familiar and accessible but presented in new, exciting ways. One example was the pacojet ice cream we had last night - a new technique for processing deep frozen produce and turning it into a mousse texture, perfect for ice creams and sorbets. Our blueberry ice cream was deeply purple and deeply flavorful, a serious treat. Or the steak frittes, which was cleverly renamed "steak frettes," to accommodate the addition of potato gaufrettes, like the most delicate waffle fry/potato chip you've ever put in your mouth. Paired with the NY strip, heirloom tomato and bernaise? With a great glass of wine, dining al fresco? SO dreamy. So all things considered, this is a SOLID restaurant. To top it off, the wine list is very good, and the bartender knows his way around some cocktails. I have no idea why it isn't higher on the best restaurants lists, because it beats many with higher rankings and more bylines with good food, good service, and a focus on the fundamentals - while never losing an opportunity to get innovative in the margins. Top notch.
AMAZING! HANDS DOWN THE BEST PLACE FOR DRINKS AND FOOD IN MADISON! I have ordered just about everything off the menu at all different times and the food has been impeccable. The bar staff does an amazing job of offering specials and asking what your spirit of choice is. The bar staff is also excellent for individuals who do not drink alcohol. A friend of mine was made a mocktail that was divine. This place has been a staple in my transition from southern cuisine to the mid-west. The atmosphere is inviting and warm. MOST DEFINITELY TRY!

Great restaurant, great staff. I accidentally cut my finger while chopping vegetables and it kept bleeding. I walked into this restaurant and a gentleman and a lady were kind enough to help me. The gentleman helped me get a band-aid from the kitchen and the lady gave me lots of paper and helped me wipe the blood. I am very grateful to them. I wish them all the best.
Amazing selection of food and drinks. There is a wide variety of selection of plates on the menu for any platet. Highly recommended the goat cheese curds and the Honeysuckle from the drink menu. Atmosphere is very relaxing and great place to either take a date out or for an entire family dinner. Staff was very friendly and helpful with recommendations. Definitely worth the price for the delicous local food and experience.
This is an excellent French bistro, not over priced, good service. The menu is small but varied. A very tasty asparagus dish was our starter. The whitefish I had was excellent with an interesting and tasty preparation. Dessert was excellent and different.
I’ve dined in some of the best restaurants around the world including Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant in Bordeaux, France. Cadre is one of my favorites!! The food, atmosphere and staff were incredible. We’ll be back soon and will bring friends and family with us. What a find!
