Cute place and really great prices. My entire meal was 6.85 which is really cheap! If you’re staying at the hotel across, go here for breakfast. This is a million times better than the hotel breakfast and it’s not that expensive. The food came out really fast and I appreciated that our server was wearing a mask.

It was ok for the price. Seasoning on the food would be great. Actually giving people separate checks (we had separate checks written on one little piece of paper) would be nice too. Nothing majorly wrong. I just wasn't feeling it.

Waitress didn't seem to know the menu. One of the group didn't get all that they were supposed to get with meal. Tried one of the salads(I believe it was house) chicken chunks were huge, some were a little dry& had some pieces with grizzle. Hostess was great & very attentive. Waitress needed to pay attention to customers food. Clean & don't have to wear masks

I had dinner at the La Crosse Family restaurant because it was a short walk from our hotel and I did not feel like driving to another restaurant. The restaurant makes no attempt to hide what they provide, decent food for a very low price. The menu has a ton of choices, almost too much. I had soup, a salad, a sirloin steak, three fried shrimp and a vegetable, along with free drinks for a total of $15 dollars. A very good deal but the food was what you paid for, the soup was a bit bland, the salad was ok, the steak was a bit tough, the shrimp were good and the vegetables were not seasoned. This is not a major complaint, just an observation. I was happy with my meal for the price. If you want a decent meal at a very low price, this is the place.

First note: it has been a couple of years or so since I have set foot in the place; prior to COVID-19 in fact. So in the unlikely situation that the owner has become a responsible restauranteur with a place worthy of respect, then maybe what I say in this review is no longer as applicable. But I doubt that's the case.I used to like La Crosse Family Restaurant quite a bit. I started going there shortly after it first opened it's doors and hardly more than a week would pass by without me visiting at least once. The food was decent with some things being superior (pancakes). The service was also decent and the prices were highly competitive. What's not to like?Well, I eventually learned what there was not to like. I'll spare any more suspense: the big problem was sanitation, cleanliness, food handling safety et. al. Go look up the county health inspection reports for the place. Infractions ranged from minor to major over the time I used to bother checking. Besides issues which could lead to food poisoning, more concerning to me were issues like fly infestation in kitchen, a non or improperly functioning dishwasher etc. Things like that can expose people to diseases far more serious than food poisoning. Often times, many of the same infractions would recur in later inspections. Since ignorance can't be to blame, this convinced me that the owner just doesn't take such practices and responsibilities seriously enough.Additionally, there had been several times where I personally witnessed improper handling of food and other things. For example, a waitress transferring salad to a customer bowl with her bare hand. Or the time there was a mouse running around in the dining room. Not to worry though, an employee promptly stomped on it right there and then; blood, bones, fur and all. I could go on but I won't. I guess if seeing the men's room isn't clue enough for you guys, you might want to look up the health inspection results The La Crosse Tribune used to keep a searchable database; not sure if they still do.Anyway, it's too bad really. LFR could have been a well deserved favorite of mine. I'm far from being any sort of germaphobe, but I do value my health at least a little bit.

We frequent here alot, th female owner knows our son by name (Noah) and there spaghetti is the ONLY spaghetti that does not make me want to vomit. And its a honey old school place, we need more places like this. Im an 80's baby and I can see wht the elderly are attracted to this place, its like the good old days. Dont change anything about this place please keep it as is. I can't wait for my dad to visit me again (PA) I'm bringing him here I know he will absolutely love it.

Will not be back. The chicken parmesan is grisly and unchewable in places. It tasted like watered down ketchup drowning mushy noodles. I would have sent it back but it seems to not be important to them to check in on their customers during the meal. I had to track someone down up front to even get a bill. When I mentioned my dislike to the waitress she was offended that I did not like ketchup noodles. Used to love this place. Will actively steer people away now.If I could leave 0 stars I would.

It's a ghost town here! Such a shame, I've seen the parking lot bursting at the seams with a 40 minute wait! Damn you covid!

I enjoy this restaurant! Food and service are always great!

Having family in the area who said this place was good I think was a fond memory. I cannot say it enough do not go here or eat from here. Each time we've tried this place one of the entrees has come out later then the rest. Twice now I've had to send something back. The first was an omelet that was late and the waitress told me "she didn't see it up" so it had sat under heat lamps, at best, or at worst just out. It was the driest omelet I've ever had.Today was the last time I will be back there. One entrée was out later then the rest. Most importantly the fried cod only one of the three pieces were cooked. Two were still raw and only slightly warm. As I paid the owners wife shrugged and said they were "busy" as an explanation of getting undercooked fish. Nothing about getting an entrée after the one person with edible food had nearly finished their meal, sadly it took them this long to make a salad.
