We had a great first experience yesterday! I stopped in with my son, and we were very impressed. Annaka(spelling-I believe that was her name) was great! She was super friendly, helpful and a fast mover. She worked that whole restaurant up front by herself, never skipping a beat! The burgers were amazing, the cheesecurds were fresh, and the onion ring sauce was awesome! We will be coming back with the rest of the family soon! Thanks for the great meal!

Excellent Burger and Cheese Curds!

Cheeseburgers, shakes, malts, breakfast sandwiches

The history of a restaurant matters if the service, food, and value improve. Al's was first opened in 1934 and has survived the economic peaks and valleys better than others. During our visit, the service was top-notch -- the employees could not have been happier to have us there. We were greeted immediately when we arrived, our waitress was available whenever we needed something, and a second employee checked on us while we were eating to ensure that we were enjoying the food. We didn't have to wait long for our meal. While my burger was flavorful, the thin edges were overcooked, making then hard and crunchy -- inconsistent with the rest of the burger. The fries were evenly cooked, and the chocolate malt was very good. The value, however, missed its mark. Al's is listed by Trip Advisor as Cheap Eats when it is not. Two burgers, two fries, a shake and a malt were billed at $36.50 before tax. This price is more typical of a New York City lunch. Even though inflation is taking its toll on many establishments, Al's is considerably more expensive than advertised. We liked Al's -- the location, the atmosphere, the staff, and -- generally -- the quality of the food. Be prepared, however, to pay more than you expect.

Do it!! Awesome burger! Quint little diner, you would miss it if you weren't looking for it. The staff was super friendly. The onion rings were delicious with their homemade dipping sauce made with red peppers. Don't miss this one! They also make custom ice cream shakes.

Great food. Popper burger actually had spice which I enjoy. Fries have a light seasoning which made them super yummy. Will be back again.

I've heard about this place for years. People told stories about this being a favorite of Coach Lombardi. While in town, my wife and I stopped in for lunch. The burger and fries were incredible. Service was wonderful. The 2 waitresses were very friendly and fast. The bill was very reasonable also. Music they had on was a light rock 70s blend. If you're looking for the best burger in town at a great price, Al's is your place. Can't wait to get back up here.

Simple downtown diner with an awesome hamburger (had the 1/4 lb. with this being my first visit). After finishing, I told the friend I was with that this is exactly what I would have had a taste for while watching that "How I Met Your Mother" episode where Marshall is looking for the best burger in NYC (except that this is in Green Bay, haha). Can't wait for a future visit where I will definitely upgrade to the 1/2 l.b.

Delicious food - and the burgers are huge! The owner is very personable. Best little diner. While it's smaller inside, the food is worth the stop.
