We picked this restaurant as it was not a chain, was downtown and had pretty good reviews. We were seated in the back room where there was only one other family (most were in the main dining area by the bar). We had the chicken sandwich, burger, cheese curds and pulled pork sandwich. Cheese curds were great with light batter. Pulled pork was plentiful on the pork and was tasty but ever so greasy! Never had anything like it. Every bite was grease running down my chin and all over my fingers. I wanted to say something but never could because our waitress never came back. Dropped off the food and never saw her again. I still ate the pork with a fork. I later was ill because of that level of grease…a very rare thing to happen to me. We waited for our bill and finally asked the hostess to send our server since we never saw her past the food drop off. I wouldn’t go back.
Great food, atmosphere, service. Great!! Nachos ♡
Came to the livery on a Saturday night, 25 minutes to close. We wanted to grab a drink and sit out by the fire. The bar tender with a gray and black beard deliberately ignored us. He served other people drinks while we waited patiently. The bad review is because when my boyfriend said politely “hey man when you have a sec can you grab us—“ and before my boyfriend could finish talking the bar tender turned around and snapped at us saying “yeah I know!!” we were stunned and we even watched him shake his head in disappointment at the register. I can understand when someone is busy, but we just really felt unwelcomed in this establishment. We live in Phoenix park too, so this is somewhere we planned on spending a lot of time and our fun money at. Well, the Livery must already have all the customers they need to make it by if the staff can act like that to nice, decent people. This is kind of low to say but I’m going to say it because it’s true, every bar on Water Street has better service than the Livery bartender. This place seems stuck up.
We stopped here at 5:30 pm on a Tuesday night with our 3 kids. Seated immediately with waters for the kids. The food was amazing! The Cuban was a highlight and the Tuesday special Brussel Sprouts were AMAZING. We wanted to lick the bowl. I would highly recommend! I would have showed you the Brussel sprouts but they were gone too fast haha
Very good place to eat! Simple and classic menu, great atmosphere, and helpful wait staff! My favorite part was the classic rock that played to whole time we were there, although I'm not sure if that depends on who has the aux or not. Would go again!
We (2 parents and 1 child) stopped at The Livery on our way back to Stevens Point based on location and good reviews. We were not disappointed! This restaurant has so many great things going for it. The host that seated us was very pleasant and personable. Our server, Josh, was great! He also was very friendly and timely with getting our drink order and then main order. While we were reading the menu, we saw that the restaurant is a living wage restaurant, which makes me so happy! We still tipped because the service and food was so good. Goes to show how paying a living wage can influence the product. Between the three of us, we had two pesto chicken sandwiches, one Livery Burger, a mixed green side salad, and sweet potato tots served with a yummy cinnamon honey dip that was just so... Yummy! The burger, ordered medium, did in fact come medium and was super juicy. The salad had real greens with arugula. The ranch dressing was super flavorful. The pesto chicken was amazing and juicy. They had a limited but diverse menu that even vegetarians would be happy with. Lots of healthy and unique choices, even with their burgers (choice of beef, turkey, or vegetarian for my burger).
I had one of your specialty salads with shrimp. The only flavor came from the black olives. I ordered an old fashioned and they put salt in it!Your appetizers were great
The previous reviews of the bloody Mary's here are not wrong! Great taste with a strong Worcestershire finish that makes for a delight finish and unique taste when paired with one of their many tap beers as a chaser.
The entrance set up has no order and the hostess was stunningly rude, only to be outdone by the rudeness of the bartender at the bar we were asked to wait by but had zero service and no room to move toward the bar to place an order. A lovely waitress apologized to me when she overheard the rude bartender, but we were leaving anyway. Other than that lovely waitress the bar is a weird mixture of pretentiousness meets college bar, a vibe we could do without. We were happy to leave and spend our money elsewhere.
My husband loved the old building and food was good! He said he'll definitely go back.
