Unbearably long wait for food. When food finally came it was the wrong dish. Sad part is they aren’t even busy. Tons of promise but awful execution. Got the Rueben omelette. The corned beef could have passed for stringy beef jerky. The “fresh fruit” was previously frozen strawberries. I ate it all because I was hungry. I will search for a new breakfast place.
A few years ago, I would have rated this place much higher. But it feels like it's gone downhill. Of the last several visits, it's been rare to get both good food and good service.Staff often seem stressed, confused, or both. I used to love their Bloody Mary, but lately, they're so salty that they're practically undrinkable. Food is often a long wait, only for it to be burnt to a crisp.Give it a try and see what you think, but I probably won't be back.
Highly do not recommend. They have some of the worst cooks around. Have not had a decent meal here in multiple years now. Mostly recently they over cooked a medium rare steak so badly a dog wouldn’t even touch it either. I’m the same meal they undercooked the fish. Couldn’t eat a single bite of the meal.
Can't speak to the lunch or dinner menu, but this is among my current de-facto breakfast or brunch spots, and it serves quite well. Everything is pretty good. Nothing stand-out, but I've enjoyed everything I've had here, and the breakfast menu is pretty reasonably priced. The waiters I've had have always been good, but turnover seems a bit high so I am suspicious about the management.
I've had it a few times and always liked it, but last time I went the food was sub-par at best. My appetizer was burnt (bruschetta), the bacon on the blt was pretty much inedible, it was hard as a rock yet chewy at the same time somehow? And all the food was just flavorless. It wasn't good at all. The one waiter was extremely busy with other customers so I didn't even get a chance to see if my food could be replaced/comped, however the waiter was very professional otherwise so that's why my rating is a 3/5 stars.
Hidden gem. Such great food and service. Bloody Mary’s are wonderful, don’t often find them with pickle juice which is how I like them Bourbon old fashioned had muddled cherries and oranges and was delicious. Moms Rueben was great, fries were crunchy as she ordered them. I had the Buffalo chicken wrap which is always good and they happily substituted the grilled chicken for tenders. Mom said it was the best Rueben she has ever had. Bummer we weren’t here for breakfast as they had a portabella Benedict special that looked awesome.
One of the worst restaurants in Eau Claire. I tried this place again for the first time in years. I was disappointed then and now. We ordered the bruschetta and spaghetti. The bruschetta was hardly edible, with large unripe tomatoes, white onion and drenched in balsamic vinegar— served on cold toasted sourdough. We sent it back, which we never do, and the manager stomped over “why did you send it back?” I explained it didn’t meet my expectations of what I know bruschetta is. She didn’t say a word to me, but went to the kitchen and loudly asked “do we ever use red onion for bruschetta?!” Which was heard throughout the restaurant. She never followed up with us and was rude the remainder of our meal. The spaghetti was edible, hardly.
We came on a Monday, late morning, and sat at the bar. We enjoyed a Bloody Mary and ordered a burger and a breakfast special. Bartender was the server as well and seemed happy to chat with customers. He was attentive and the food was good.
I've known about this place since it started up and have absolutely loved the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant. The variety of seating has had my family and friends in for large or small gatherings. We like the large cozy booths or sometimes the high bar chairs, and enjoy the formal seating in the back dinning room.Their food tastes fresh and I love the variety of American style food and appetizers that they have. For example, they once had Bratwurst Bites (cut up brats breaded and fried) I'm not sure if that's the current selection but it was very delicious! Cheese curds and fried mushrooms are great!Their house salad dressing and home cook potato chips are amazing. The entrees are nicely plated and have satisfying flavors. The burgers are juicy and have fresh toppings. Order a beer or pop to go with! The restrooms are a tight squeeze but are well kept.
Food was great, waiter and hostess were friendly and attentive. Great piece of history and pictures to look at of buildings of the past. Love every minute of the visit! We plan on returning again. Thank you
