We had to opportunity (finally!) to visit Basil Cafe on our vacation. We always seem to miss them to summer break. We were thrilled to have dinner there tonight. The staff was fantastic and the food, AMAZING! The Pad Kee Mao was absolutely perfect - the slight char flavor, chew of the noodle, and perfect amount of spice worked together perfectly. My daughter said the calamari was perfectly crispy, just like the menu said it would be! And my picky son loved his chicken nuggets. We all truly enjoyed our entrees and my daughter has already planned what she wants next time we’re in WI for vacation. Thank you again for the delicious dinner and it was great catching up!
My wife and I are always on the lookout for good vegan options at restaurants. We get to Appleton once every six weeks or so, and have had some good meals, but nothing like what was in store for us at the Basil Cafe. We ordered two vegan dishes and I can honestly say that they were the best meals we have had in a very long time. I was so impressed by the depth of the flavor of the food, as well as the obvious care that was taken in developing good textures. The breadth of the menu, especially when it comes to vegan options, is terrific. We now have a new go-to place in Appleton and I look forward to further exploring the restaurant's fine menu. Very nice atmosphere. Extremely nice waitress. However price of lunch was outrageous. Very limited menu. Taste was ok. Bought takeout of Pad Thai for my elderly mother and upon sampling upon arriving home decided against giving to her. Not good. It was grey and not like any Pad Thai I've been accustomed to. Relied on reviews to pick this over others in Appleton area. Wont be back.
Amazing experience here for a quick lunch. Have been wanting to come here for a long time. Will be back soon!
From the outside of this restaurant, I didn't even want to go inside. I am SO GLAD I did. First off, the interior looks nothing like the exterior. Where the exterior looks like every run-down depression-era Wisconsin bar you've ever seen, the interior is very vibrant and inviting. The ramen and sausages we had were incredible. I can't wait to go back again.

Our family has ordered out from Basil Café for many years, and continues to be a staple in our household, even as we have moved out of town a bit. If we are anywhere in the neighborhood, we make it a point to pick-up from this wonderful eatery. We love the way the staff treats us, the food is always good, and it's always fast. Our household can't recommend Basil enough!
My all time favorite. Superb mix of delicious dishes accented by an excellent wine selection. The red curry was tremendous. A little less soupy than I've had at other places but very very tasty. I ordered 3 out of 4 for spicy and it was hot but not overwhelming. Spring rolls were excellent. I tried my daughter's ramen bowl (mee mama ramen?) and it was spectacular. It's got a sneaky spice to it.
What a nice place for dinner. The cafe is clean and well cared for. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. Everyone enjoyed the food. An overall great experience!
I have been going here since Basil's Cafe opened years ago. I have never been let down with the fresh food, unbelievable noodles, great Vietnamese coffee, and unique appetizers. We keep coming back and are always happy with our order - one of the few places that offer this level of quality cuisine.
