Could have had the same experience if I had taken a lighter and held it to 70 dollars. Have gone to this place at the very least 10 times. Twice has the food been exceptional, the other 8 it was inedible but my family and I powered through because of the amount of money we had spent. Never again. Barbecue place out of barbecue sauce, mixing water with what sauce they have left, slathering it on BURNT BURNT ribs to create a nice ash paste, all while using week old oil for fries. I know the owner is working hard and trying to make things happen, and I hate to have to post this. Hopefully these words might act as motivation and other’s won’t have to share in my experience.
Ordered through grubhub for pickup. When I arrived their was a bit of a wait, which I expected anyway since the app said 30 minutes. The lady working the front window was very nice and offered to give me some free sides and offered everyone free drinks which I thought was very nice. Customer service was wonderful. Unfortunately the food wasn't very good. I got 2 brisket sandwiches. They were served on regular sliced bread, not a bun so they were kind of soggy. The brisket itself wasn't tender and had large globs of fat. I ended up throwing away approximately 1/3 of the meat from my sandwich because it was all fat. I'm from out of town so won't be returning regardless but would recommend against trying the brisket.
To preface this review, my wife and I are not picky and very forgiving when it comes to how we rate food. We leave this review without malice or anger towards the folks here at Sweet Southern Smoke BBQ. We only hope to help improve the issues that we experienced while visiting this establishment.My wife and I had two meals:1- ribs, macaroni and cheese, BBQ Beans, cornbread2- brisket, green beans and potatoes, macaroni and cheese, cornbreadUnfortunately the food did not taste as good as it smelled. The BBQ was dry. My wife said the ribs reminded her of jerky and the brisket was not fall apart tender. The brisket was very fatty as well.Our sides: As far as the macaroni and cheese it was okay. Unfortunately it wasn’t very tasty and bland. The potatoes were undercooked and the green beans weren’t flavorful either. The cornbread had a good flavor, just very dry.My wife and I were very excited to try some BBQ here around Morgantown… but for $40.00 we expected much better and were sadly disappointed.
Absolutely AMAZING. I always get pulled chicken sandwiches at bbq places and this is by far the best I've ever had. My husband said the same about his pulled pork sandwich. Seriously, though. We've eating bbq all across the country and this place is top notch. Oh, and the Mac and Cheese.... Y'ALL. It was heavenly. 10/10 definitely going back. Great service, priced for the quality, and delicious.
Brisket sliced too thin and I couldn't even cut or chew the meat! My first bite was pure fat not cooked and chewy. I waited 15 minutes for a half pound of meat for $10! Glad I didn't pay 20 for the meal!
The owner was extremely kind and generous!! I told him when he 1st asked for my order that it was my 1st time eating there and that it is my birthday. Without hesitation he offered to DOUBLE my order. The food was so delicious and we will be going back again! Thank you so much for your generosity on my special day. Also for throwing in a FREE Sweet Southern BBQ tank top. I appreciate you!
Fantastic ribs!! Tender and falls right off the bone. By far the best BBQ in Morgantown. I will come again and again as long as they’re open.
Hadn't been there before the new owner took over. Drive pass multiple times a day. Finally went and was 110% satisfied. Slightly spoke to the owner and could hear his passion. As long as I'm in Morgantown I WILL NOT EAT AT ANOTHER BARBEQUE SPOT. Hands down the best. Worth the money, drive, time, and effort. Trust me.

Stopped by randomly at 2 o’clock on a Wednesday and ordered just a large mac n’ cheese. I told the cashier that I loved their pulled chicken and asked if there was anyway I could add some on-top of the mac n’ cheese and he immediately told me we can definitely do that. After receiving my food and getting home, I realized that the cashier left me a free bbq pulled chicken sandwich as well. Excellent customer service and food! I will be back! I couldn’t believe how generous he was.
