Great service and great food! What else do you want.
If you are looking for genuine Mexican flavors in the Morgantown area, you need to check out this nondescript storefront in Sabraton. They offer Tex-Mex too, but you'll have to read someone else's review for that, because I keep coming back for the real deal. Here's a quick run-down of what my wife and I have tried, from favorite to okay (actually, it's a toss-up between these top 3 for my favorite). Special Pollo con Crema - One word... poblanos. My wife's favorite Mexican dish ever! Authentic, complex taste without the burn. Be sure to get the "Special" one. The poblanos make this dish. Chori Pollo - It pains me to say it, but this is better than the Chorizo Chicken I make. I think their Chorizo is a better quality than what I'm able to get. That's my excuse, anyway! If you like Chorizo, you owe it to yourself to try this. Carnitas en Chile Colorado - Authentic, could maybe use a bit more heat. My go-to yardstick for an authentic Mex-Mex place, and this passes with flying colors. Pollo Sinaloa - Not bad, basically a Special Pollo con Crema without the sour cream. Pollo Maya - Chicken and veggies. My wife liked it, but didn't rave about it. That's all we've tried. Other things worth noting: Tortilla chips - Standard for the southern US, better than average quality for up here. Nothing wrong with the chips. Salsa - Meh. Not terrible, and a notch above what's offered by some of the other more popular Morgantown places, but I've definitely had much better further south. What is it with black pepper in the salsa up here? Never thought I'd be a salsa snob, but here I am. Just don't get me started on tamales! Guacamole - Too hot for my wife, could use more flavor for me. However, it comes free, so overall a plus. Queso - Good, ordinary queso you'd find anywhere further south. A word on the takeout. The menu says dishes are served with pico de gallo, but at least with takeout the pico is replaced with half a tomato slice. Hopefully it's just a supply issue. However, takeout is always ready when they say it's going to be. We always order takeout and have never had to wait, not once. A minor miracle! Overall verdict, our favorite authentic Mex-Mex in Morgantown. Nobody else comes close.
Amazing quality, it shows in the taste of the queso. Excellent place to eat
Rio Verde is a great Restaurant! I have been twice now and I have been highly satisfied every time. The food is always so hot and fresh and so very delicious. It was definitely one of the best Mexican food restaurants I have eaten at in West Virginia. I will be returning soon.
This is Maxican restaurant with authentic Mexican cruzine, they don't speak much of english but, food is excellent. We enjoyed the food and some interaction with the staff.
Wonderful atmosphere! The place is very clean and the people there are fantastic!
My girl friend took me there for my b day great food.
Everyone was polite they were quick on delivering the food and it was good
Tasty food, incredibly generous portions, and friendly staff. Not the best guacamole, though, I tasted mayonnaise!
Everything I've ever order here was so amazing. By far the best Mexican food in Morgantown.
