We arrived an hour early for a meeting, but the resto we intended to patronize was unexpectedly closed. Two other restos we thought might be okay also were in day-off mode. But the Blue-White, a long-time-ago go-to was open. We started with bean and ham soup that was, despite being over-salted, not all that bad. Then came the mains. My beef liver arrived with what appeared to be a black-brown, shiny plastic shroud, with six onion rings. It was edible, but not very good otherwise. My wife's chicken breast (deep-fried with a gooey white sauce) failed in the edible department. Realistically, we had no reason to expect much better. The prices qualified the place as cheap eats. BONUS! The two hours of heartburn were free.
Food is about what you would get at a fast food or waffle house. I would not recommend taking your children there, apparently if you walk into that establishment with children they have the "right" to reprimand them. Excuse me?!?! My child was just trying to order for herself and got told to, "Be quiet, and let your momma order for you". It's safe to say we will not be going back, and definitely would not recommend this place for families.
Normally I would always give this restaurant a five star but the service or lack of I was given on Friday evening has detered me from ever wanting to come back. Basically long story short I called a few times realized they were probably busy that's why they weren't answering I live close so I rode up, I walked in I waited for the waitress to come over, she looked at me and said do you need a menu or something and I said oh I came in because I called and no one answered I figured you guys were busy right off the bat she says yeah I'm by myself so I can't answer the phone and I said oh that's okay I just wanted to place an order and she said I can't take any to go orders I'm by myself and I asked so I can't put in an order and come back for it when it's ready?! She said no then a couple seconds later very nasty said well I guess I could in a couple minutes and I said don't worry about it and left. I have never been refused service especially to just put in a to-go order even if I had to wait an hour I would have her attitude was so foul and honestly is an embarrassment for that restaurant ?
I love a good diner. Food might just be food you could make at home but it’s still comforting. I really wanted to write this review because the few times I have been there, the waitresses have been SO NICE! I will continue to come back, even if think the food is just alright, nothing bad but nothing fabulous, because of the service. They run their tails off but still make you feel like you’re their only guest. The curly haired lady we had today kept my coffee warm, remembered we wanted a table even though we were fine at the bar and cleared a table quickly that just left about half way through the time we were there and let us know we could move back there. Food took a while but I could tell they were short staffed (one single guy in the kitchen and two waitresses, every table full with people, including myself and mother, at the bar). They could be stressed but they don’t show it. I didn’t feel rushed to leave.Everyone loves their little hamburgers and I must agree!Thank you for such kind, customer-forward service.
We have tried to eat there twice, both times were "Open".. but no luck. I've never seen a diner that closes by 7pm either... interesting business choice.
This restaurant deserves a five star rating! Food is superb and the staff is friendly and very knowledgeable… I didn’t have to wait for anything… The chef is excellent and his meat sauce is to savor….. He obviously is good at his position and loves people…. We stopped there while going to look at property in WVA…. Did not realize that we were in for a lovely experience…..Will definitely be back for another lunch or dinner… Close to downtown and quaint and they even had ELVIS on their wall…
This place is a great neighborhood diner. I always come here for great food that is never disappointing. Their breakfast is in my opinion the best thing on the menu. Their French toast, pancakes, hash browns, omelets, crispy bacon, and sausage are great anytime of day.
Currently here. There is one waitress with a packed restaurant serving EVERYONE. I just want to give her the money and leave. This waitress is not getting paid enough for this kind of stress. Take care of your employees. I won't be returning no matter how good the food is.
I've eaten here multiple times, months in between visits, and it always tastes the same: delicious! The servers make sure I have enough coffee, they're good at checking on your table, and it's a clean restaurant. It's not terribly noisy so I was able to concentrate on conversation instead of having to yell or lean forward to hear.Good food, excellent service.
Always a good time. Excellent value and the atmosphere is a bonus!
