A Blast From the Past. The owner came around and visited with us. He is the 3rd generation to run the 80+ year-old restaurant. The spaghetti had a unique, but good flavor. The rolls were warm. The salad was iceberg with a house made oil and vinegar dressing that was tasty. We live in the DC area and we are used to northern Virginia prices. We were surprised to pay $8.99 for a salad, spaghetti, rolls and iced tea! Our waitress was delightful. She appeared genuinely happy to have us first timers. There is a parking garage next door. 50 cents if you get your card validated. Otherwise $1.10. We will definitely go back when we are traveling cross country again.
If you are traveling through Huntington, WV, this is an interesting place to stop. It has been opened in this location for over 80 years. There is a booth with JFK’s picture, in tribute to his visit there while campaigning for President. The spaghetti and chocolate pie were great, and the people were really nice.
For what it is, and for Huntington this place is great! I didn't have the fish, but it looked amazing, and I would eat that if I went again. My fiance had the rib eye, she said it was fair, but nothing to write home about, but for the price...wow. I had the spaghetti, it was not the best I have had, I wouldn't order it as the entre again if I went, but it was definitely good. Reminded me of homemade, but not quite. There is an option to get it as a side, if I ever eat here again I would consider getting a side of it to share. If you visit Huntington give it a try, and for people who live in Huntington this is a place I'd suggest taking visitors. It feels like a place I'd have visited on a road trip with my folks in the early 90s or late 80s.
Jim's is one of our regular spots for lunch at my office. We order the spaghetti usually a couple of times per month and bring back to our office to eat. The spaghetti and sauce remain consistent time after time. Jim's spaghetti sauce is unique, not at all like I would make at home. Yesterday was great as usual. One of my office mates had a fish sandwich, which he noted was delicious. Jim's has one of the best fried fish sandwiches around. Once in awhile we actually eat in the restaurant itself. It is definitely a blast from the past with authentic decor from a bygone era. I think there is a booth that has a notation that JFK actually sat in it during a visit to Huntington during his presidential campaign. Locals and visitors alike need to dine at Jim's given the opportunity.
Great food,Great service !
Always consistently great service and food…
While it is a Huntington classic, this was my first visit here. With friends for lunch, service was prompt. It was busy. Food was good. I had a Chef Salad with coconut pie for desert. Places like this are about friends, family, and traditions. Great retro diner vibe in this place.
I remember going to Jim’s as a kid with my Grandmother, very nostalgic , great service and meal. Opened in 1938 has also served many celebrity’s and JFK.
Great Spaghetti great service, if you have never been there go you won’t be disappointed
Kinda reminds me of that Ole hometown cooking. You know the one where it's food, but doesn't taste like there's a chef anywhere to be seen in 100 miles. Food is edible, but bland. Like white people bland. Whitest of the white white people bland. Someone needs to go in there and teach them people how to season food. Where's Gordon Ramsey when you need him? Been around forever and it's obvious. Food tastes like it's not changed since the day they opened.
