This drive-in has been in business since 1959, according to the manager, and actually is part of a chain with only a few left in the country. My wife and I ate here two days in a row for lunch. It was fairly busy both days but the employees were very friendly and really hustled. The food and their signature root beer was very good and the prices are reasonable. The manager advised this drive-in is open year round but it is the only one I've been to that doesn't have some kind of cover over the customers' vehicles. This means if it's raining, water is going to inside your vehicle when you roll down the window to place your order and receive your food. You probably are not going to want to leave it cracked for the tray to hang onto the top of the window either. Also, no covering doesn't give the employees any respite from the weather while in the parking lot taking orders and serving customers. The first day we were there it was quite hot and humid. You don't have to stay in your car to eat. The second day we were there, it wasn't as hot and less humid and they have tables on the side of the building where we sat and ate.
Always great food, usually great service. Prices are super compared to other drive-ins. My biggest gripe is they are closed on Sundays. Sign say temporarily. I would think business would be brisk on Sunday after church services. If they are closed for a religious reason, I understand. If it is for any other reason, correct it and open yo place! I be hongry on Sunday, too!
I usually do not like root beer but this was sooooo good, loved it!You just park the car, a waiter comes over and takes your order, order is brought to the car. Very friendly service!
You can't beat Frostop rootbeer, it's the best, food was great too. Fast friendly service. Food was cheap.
Looking for an old fashion root beer float? This is your place! A-mazing! We ordered/ate outside on a freshly cleaned table. Service was great and very helpful. Hickory pork (with slaw), onion rings (many), BLT and fries all very tasty. Bill came to $20! Definitely recommend!
Waitress was great. Only forgot 1 drink. Hotdogs were soggy but very tasty. Fries weren't that great, not like I remember them to be a year ago, they were awesome then.
Fantastic, as usual!! Service was speedy, and both servers were very friendly- smiled and extremely courteous. The food was hot & fresh, and those root beer floats!! Yum!! It was my granddaughter's first time there, and she loved it!! This is why they have been in business over 50 years :)
We stopped here on our way home to Kentucky from our Virginia Beach vacation. What a gem this place is. You can either sit in your car or outside at a table. We sat outside and someone took our order. My husband had the beef barbecue sandwich onion rings and root beer float. I had the slaw dog, french fries and a root beer. Delicious food that cost $17 and change. I highly recommend this place!
